Sum 41 wrote: hey everyone. we're going to be performing in new jersey at the hoodwink show on may 1st. it's a show where all the bands performing are going to be doing a tribute set of another band. we're going to be playing a set of metallica songs! if you're in the area you should come by and check it out. it's may 1st. this link gives you all the details of where, when and who else is playing. hope to see you there.

That sounds really cool but does that mean that they won't play any Sum 41 songs on the set? haha, that would suck. I mean, few covers its okay, but a whole non-Sum 41 set from Sum 41...
Well, anyway, someone should tape this shit. I mean, we all heard the sums doing a few songs on the MTV Icon (with Dave though) but they probably will play some other stuff they haven't played before too.

Holy shit, I never would have thought I'd see another day where Sum 41 covers Metallica now that Dave isn't part of the band. So I take it Tom is going to play the leads?

Someone definitely needs to bring a camcorder to this show.

They already did a tribute to Metallica so don't expect anything more original.

Indeed, but I wonder if this next metallica thing will be the same... If they use the lousy guitar sound as they did during the UH era Sum 41's respect will go down 10 fold. I dont think Tom/Deryck can play lead. I think Deryck would do better then Tom.

I think he can (not stuff like bitter end) And I just said he'd do better then Tom. I think that cuz I we know Deryck loved Metallica since he was young and I dunno bout Tom but I don't think he does too. Allthough he can rock out in a bus on some MoP

all they are going to do is embarrass themselves if they have tom as the lead guitarist and that shitty UH tone. they would clearly have to have dave or some one of the same skill to play metallica songs

holy fucking SHIT
Children of the beast embrace,
To scorn and the human race,
Consume the light that hugs the earth,
And aid the womb in giving birth,
To a group that will appear,
And guide you through this final year,
The dark armies then will come,
When the sum is 41

Shit, why are you being so dark guys?

They picked a win band to cover (I'm not a fan though), I'm sure it's not going to be the same without Dave, but it's gonna sound awesome.

I don't think its gonna be bad. I mean, Tom is a great guitarist really! Have you heard some of the leads on Gob songs? or have you heard Gob overall? They are pretty much kickass and their latest album Muertos Vivos was a very Chuck-like heavy/metal punk/alternative album. Actually, it wasn't really punk, more of the heavy alternative metal sound of Chuck, and had some kickass solos like on Underground (probably their heaviest song), so you should really listen to those before judgind Tom and say what he can play. He can definitely play lead better than Deryck.
