hey so normally i will admit that i only post here if i got news or anything
but im gonna start being more involved
starting with this topic...

do you think that since during the recording sessions of U.C.H
they hadn't had tom as a touring guitarist yet
that this time around he might be helping out in the studio with some guitar riffs?
it kinda crossed my mind when i saw the pics of tom and deryck.

and my other one is really off topic but im not gonna make another topic for it
the song from studio update video 1
i got a guitar pro file of it
if someone could tell me how to upload it to Ultimete Guitar
i would gladly do it

Tom is good, but Im kinda hoping they find another guy for the new album... A more punkrock kinda guy. Or someone named Dave.

^ lol if only that would happen. But then it'd be awkward.

I personally think it'd be really awesome if he added a bit of his ideas. Who knows.
I don't know anything about this..
Oh and sorry I've no idea how to upload it to UG

You could upload the guitar pro file here haha. Not sure about UG but shouldn't be that hard. I'll check it out.

And yeah, maybe Tom is helping out and contributing to the album this time around... could be cool. Maybe he'll add some kickass riffs or something. I mean, GOB are pretty awesome and Tom writes most of the shit there (he and Theo), so I don't see a reason that if he'll be involved that it'll suck.

Yeah, if Tom sorta contributes, he might make the album a bit better.

I thought the same thing when I saw the pictures of Deryck and Tom. If Tom is helping out I think it would be cool and Deryck wouldn't be the only one trying to come up with guitar parts. I think it would help Deryck a lot because he wouldn't have to worry about writing all the guitar parts for each song. It could open a new door for the boys. :silly:

I'm really glad they aren't getting a new guitar player. Tom fits in with them. I couldn't stand it if there was some hard core punk guy standing off to the side of them. It wouldn't look right to me.

I think in the newest R2R Stevo referred to Tom as the "new guitarist", but doesn't mean that he is just a touring guitarist or full-time member. Plus if Tom is officially a member of the band, they will officially announce it somehow.

Exactly! It seems like Tom fits in great. Even if he doesn't join the band. It's like he's perfect.

i don't know how much he's contributing to the new album. im sure Gob is on tour. or at least was for most of the time while the sums were working on this new CD. i don't know if they are still on tour, but they came to Regina just a few weeks ago, i think.

but ya, if Tom is influencing the new CD, im sure it'll be good.

i dont think so, since hes to write full time for gob, how can become a full member, that means we has to write for both bands and tour for both. its possible, i just doubt it

Tom is a way better guitarist than Deryck so maybe it would be cool if he did wrote some riffs or something but i doubt it.

Yeah, I think it'd be a good idea if he kinda helped the band, but I wouldn't like it if he joined the band. They just... won't be the same....? Idk, no one can ever replace Dave.

I don't think Tom would become a member but it would be cool if he did write some guitar parts.

I dunno, I think at this point if Tom joined the band and was part of the creative process, I'd be comfortable with it. I mean, Gob is lame these days anyway.

Yeah, I think it'd be nice if Sum 41 was back to four members again. I don't like the idea of Sum 41 being a three-piece. It just makes me want to compare them to Green Day and Blink-182.

Yeah, two guitarists fit the Sums better, thats what made them cooler than Blink for example, they actually had solos and songs that required two guitars, made them cooler and more complex. On the other hand, Green Day is a trio, but look at them... they have two additional guitarists live haha, so at times Billie Joe who's supposed to be the only guitarist doesn't even play his guitar haha. But yeah, Tom could be great in the studio... I mean, he wrote some kickass stuff for GOB (Mouth in Foot Disease is one of my favorite punk albums, and Muertos Vivos is a great alternative/punk/metal album in the vein of Chuck), so I'm sure if he will contribute to the new Sum 41 album it'll sound great. Maybe he'll even share vocal duties with Deryck, or at least will have a song where only he sings or he like sings the chorus while Deryck sings the verses, something like that would be cool.
