how about it? adding a current events section could spark more meaningful discussions. we have to talk about things going on in the world around us, it can't all be about music.

It seems like a great idea, but i think it will fall victim to the "creative writing section curse" (nobody posts in there anymore!)
Here are some of my section ideas:
1. split the whatever section into
1. WTF stuff
2. other
OR
split the whatever section into
1. Humour
2. Other
2. Split the Sum 41 section into album sub-sections for the time period of the discussion (and you could have one overall, topic, for teh band in general)
1 AKNF
2. DTLI?
3.CHuck
4. UH
5. general
(i think this would really help, because, for example, i don't really care for DTLI? related news, and am rather dissapointed when i end up reading it looking through all sum 41 news)
3. Get rid of the News section
4. move the BIG TNS PROJECT section into the The Sums (i don't think it needs it's own topic)
5. merge the creative writing section with another section (noone ever post in there) (or possible move it into the entertainment section)
6. merge the PC's and Mac section into a "computer's" section
7. Split the Entertainment section up more. the forum games and tv/movies get enough posts to merit there own section.
8. have the sports section split up into the 5 major sports (baseball, hockey, basketball, football, soccer)
9. in the above mentioned supertopic that i suggest PC's and Macs be merged into, have subcatagories such as ISP's and things like that...
10. split the movie and tv sections into 2 sections...
that's all i could think off...

I disagree Luke. At least with the Whatever Section, but I don't care about the Sum 41 sections.

I think that's too much. It creates too many places to go to. Especially the Sports. I don't think there's enough topics to divide it into the five major sports. Plus, you're going to need another "general sports" forum for all the others that don't qualify. Splitting the Sum 41 section into albums would be kind of useless because most of the discussion is about the latest things going on with Sum 41, so forums like All Killer and Infected will receive a lot less posts.
On top of splitting up a bunch of forums, the mods/admins will have to sort through pages and pages of topics and move them all into their respective forums.
