Supporting Sum 41

Post by Phili »

I posted this message on the main page. Here is where you can comment and discuss.

As Sum 41 fans, it is our role to support the band, spread the word, and help them be successful. In many ways, we have failed up until now with this album. "Underclass Hero" and "Walking Disaster" were both flops, where they both had the potential to be hits. Many radio stations dropped "Walking Disaster" when Deryck hurt his back. We could've made them bring it back. We didn't. "With Me" has more than the usual potential to be successful. It is in every way a textbook hit. It's well-written, it's catchy, and it's touching. As fans, we have the chance to redeem ourselves, make "With Me" a hit, and give Sum 41 the incentive they need to continue touring through the end of spring and the summer. Are you up for it? Good. Here's how you can do your part.

1. VOTE for Sum 41 at the following places: MuchOnDemand, MusiquePlus, MTV Japan Video Music Awards. With the MOD site you can vote more than once. Do so.

2.a) Your local radio stations need listeners to be successful (stating the obvious). Make "With Me" leverage. Constantly request it.
2.b) Your city has venues, right? And festivals? Both of which are usually hosted or supported by radio stations. If Sum 41 is popular on their stations, they WILL ask them to attend all those festivals. You can help.

If you have any other suggestions, please post them here.

Is there a Sum 41 street team where they just send you stickers to stick up all around town? :)

Danke, Liebe Grüße ans Jump-Team.

Awesome!

Well, my radio station is shit. I requested (like 20 times) With Me during an "all request lunch" program and they never played it! I mean, they'll play Welcome to the Black Parade three times in one day and not a single Sum 41 song. And if it ever is one, it's Fat Lip.

I think I'll just stick to the voting thing for now.

I'd have more incentive to promote them if they played a show here. Every other damn capital city in Canada got a Sum 41 show and we got jackshit.

that might be a problem for me as i live in the UK
where the music industry is ruled by "chart Music"
so there is zero or little chance that Sum 41 will ever be back in the charts unless their next album is MASSIVE
I say when they get around to releasing their next album, regardless where you are in the world, try your best to populise it

They didn't play in the capital of Canada either. Deal with it. I'd think that that would be MORE incentive for you. If they know that they have a fanbase in a place they are more likely to play there.

And UK fans, at least TRY.
