Compared to Out for Blood and A Death In the Family, I think the music video for Never There helped make the song more compelling. It gives fans who might not be familiar with Deryck's childhood a glimpse of what it was like for him and what the song means. I definitely got hit in the Feels when the kid opened up his present to reveal a guitar because (assuming it's a mirroring of Deryck's own life) you already know how his future will play out.

Well, first we need to define "single" nowadays. War was the "first" single, even though Fake My Own Death was released 2 months earlier. Even with a video and radio play, it wasn't considered a "single", so I don't know what the criteria are anymore.

But, 13 Voices had 3 songs released before the album release. God Save Us All was released one week before the album came out.

SBM had only one single released before the album, but Skumfuk and Blood In My Eyes were also released before the album, without being official singles.

But in a sense of being an officially labeled single, yes, you could say this is the first time.
