Hello there

I'm new here but I realy like the site, although it seems that there is not that much activity for the moment. Something that I find weird knowing that there is a new album in the make that (hopefully) will be released this year.

So what do you expect/want to hear? Deryck already commented that it will mix Chuck, SBM, DTLI with something completely new. What are your whishes and which album do you want to be the main influence?
I hope he continues SBM, my favorite album till now.

Are you stupid man? Sun 41 is basically dead now even if there's a new album it wont be for many many years. Grow up you fuck. Delete this spam thread.

I'm pretty sure we already have a new album thread. And there's no discussion on here because there's no real reason to be.

Anyway I'm hoping, as doubtful as it may be, that they'll experiment more with structure and sound as they seemed to do a bit on SBM. I don't really want to hear another album full of 3:25 verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus rock songs.

Totally aggree, SBM was (mostly) damn quality

And sure that this might not be the most indispensable post, but with the little active people here it may catch some attention (you saw it quickly :silly: )

LOL album this year? Yeah, Nope.
I feel like I've spent more time waiting for GTA V to be released for PC.
Guess what the fucking irony is? The developers of GTA V are called Rockstar and they are almost as good as SUM41 at making their customers/fans wait. :suicide:

I love the clip it's seems like a complete demo for an old clip that Deryck posted on his old instagram, well I hope hear something new this year, not an album, at least a song.

Hey, I risk to be unpopular here, but this https://instagram.com/p/0bqXI-mZyd/?taken-by=sum41 is shitty riff. Sorry to say that guys, but anyone could write it in five minutes with guitar. And you're excited only because Deryck did it.

Well, I love Sum41 and especially Chuck, and I do really love Subject To Change which is pretty similar to the riff above, but this is just another damn level of rock. Much cooler, much more original than what we've got now.

Hate to tell you this guys. Really hate. :headbanger:

I hoped so because Deryck said on his website that he has A LOT to bring us this year :confusion:

So you're saying that simple is shitty? It's not a solo, it doesn't have to be very complex. To me this sounds very much like the riff in the verses of Still Waiting, which is quite simple. Still it's a good song.

And to say that people love it just because it's from Deryck? Maybe the fans on Instagram, but here at TNS people have even ignored the existence of Underclass Hero because they thought it was beyond garbage. If that riff really is shitty, you wouldn't be the only one here to say so.

Again, I don't see how simple is the same as shitty. I was excited to hear this, since I thought about Still Waiting, and it would be exciting to hear a similar album.

Speaking of riffs during verses, how would you rate for example The Hell Song? Or Thanks For Nothing? To me, those riffs sound even "shittier" (meaning simple, anyone could write them in 5 minutes) than this new one, still they are great songs in my opinion. A simple riff doesn't ruin the whole song.

And it's unfair to compare this to Subject To Change. That's one of the most complex riff in Sum 41 songs, while this new riff is very simple. It's not like every other Sum 41 song is as complex as STC.

To me, the riff it's like Over My Head, and I think that this riff it's great.

Oh, hi Tomi, I was hoping to hear your opinion and I couldn't disagree with you.
Let me be a bit more clear with that. I don't mean that the new album or particular song is going to be "shitty" or something like this.

I just want to say that this new riff isn't what I supposed to hear from Deryck as a hint to the album. Let's imagine that we've heard verse without voice from the Hell Song (i mean part which starts from 00:20 sec) as a hint to DTLI. Well we all would be disappointed with this part because it doesn't give us anything except a couple of quints. My point about this new riff is the same - it's just isn't enough to get excited.

Speaking of Hell Song and Thanks For Nothing, well, I adore them, especially since I've learned to play them.

By the way my favorite albums are Chuck and DTLI, so I've jumped out of my pants when I heard that the new album will be more like them.

No, man, this isn't even close to the beauty of Over My Head. This is what I'm talking about - they're just on the different levels of quality.
If we speak about style - yes, it's like Over My Head and Subject To Change.

I really wonder when we'll hear new music from them, or how this process will go.. are they going to demo, then find a label and record in a studio through them? Or just release the music themselves..

Nice to know that they are working on new songs now. And I think probably they will record the songs / album first and then they will look for a label or both things at the same time.

They'll probably need a label, though i'd love to see them releasing it on their own
