it's a music/entertainment store; Games, CDs, DVDs, BluRays and sometimes they have vinyl. I don't think there are any HMV in the States, but they are pretty big in Canada and the UK as well as other countries around the world.

I buy most of my records/CDs from Banquet Records, though they are a UK store so shipping to Canada/US/wherever may be a bit pricey!

I'm not sure how many of you are interested, but Hot Topic is having a 25% off sale right now in store and online. Today is the first day that they're doing this sale, and it coincides with the pre-order of Fall Out Boy - Take This To Your Grave and Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. It's safe to say I preordered both!

They also have a couple of UnderOATH albums, Further Seems Forever, Senses Fail, Kevin Devine, Northstar, Thursday... good ass list.

I asked before but didn't get any responses, what player does everybody use? I'm looking for a player in the region of £100 (£150 absolute max) and all I really need is a turntable with high quality reproduction and a headphone jack (preferably 6.35mm). I've been looking at some HiFi systems, but I don't really need all the extras.

I used to have a Pro-Ject turntable (can't remember which model), sounded OK through an amp I borrowed off my dad which was older than me. It was one of the players with no cover though, was a bastard to keep dust free and clean when not in use!

I bought it from Richer Sounds, though looking on their website they don't seem to have to much choice at the minute.

I don't currently have anything at the minute, I've been meaning to treat myself to a whole new system since moving into the new house, though I never have the spare money.

So just found hundreds of really really old vinyls in my Gran's garage. Anybody know if there's somebody we could contact to find out how much they'd be worth?

If you don't want to do it yourself using the Internet, then you could always try a local second hand record store (if you have one). Other than that, I don't know where to try to ensure you speak to someone who knows what they're talking about and will give you a fair price.

Checking each one on ebay, local record store guy, this website: http://www.popsike.com/index.html asking on Vinyl Collective forum (not recommend mostly hipster douchebags)

Be warned a lot of old records are worth jack shit. Hope you find something cool though!

Yea, a lot of old records are worthless though it's always worth checking in case you come across something rare/valuable. The Popsike site that Tyler posted is quite handy, lists old ebay auctions for various records (also quite interesting searching through various artists, search for old Beatles or Rolling Stones records). There are loads of independent record stores all over the UK who have websites that might be worth checking/getting in contact with.
