Does anyone here collect vinyl? I just purchased three new records from my local Hot Topic shop. Hot Topic is awful when it comes to how much of a joke that store looks, and the types of stuff it sells, but it does one thing right... Hot Topic sells some pretty great vinyl.

Among my purchases was a Boys Night Out "Trainwreck" vinyl... one absolutely fantastic record that I really recommend anyone check out if you want something to listen to that sounds awesome. I got a clearance rack Yellowcard EP for like 5 dollars, and I also got the Box Car Racer record on vinyl. I was really excited for that because I loved that album, and I really didn't expect it to be there.

My friend purchased Senses Fail's album, "Let It Enfold You", and I skipped out on buying The Early November's "In Currents" simply because I was running out of money! I want to go back asap to buy more, but it is an hour away and I am waiting to get a paycheck! haha.

Anyways, do any of you enjoy collecting vinyl? I'm just starting my collection... any websites to check out for some good records? I know Sum 41's All Killer No Filler was recently pressed by some company. Tell me about your collections!

My Dad gave me a bunch of old records but I don't really care for them as much, stuff like The Beatles, Van Halen, old Jazz stuff and all that.

I've always wanted to start but have never really had the money. I hope to develop a collection in later life.

I've got a few records, just started collecting about a year ago. most of mine are vintage Rush albums from the 80's in very good condition. heres my short list;

Rush "All the World's a Stage -Live" (1976) -Canadian, 2nd press from 1977
Rush "Hemispheres" (1978) -US, first pressing
Rush "Permanent Waves" (1980) -US, First
2x Rush "Moving Pictures" (1981) - US, first + Canadian First
Rush "Signals" (1982) - Canadian, First
Rush "Grace Under Pressure" (1984) - CAN, First
Rush "Power Windows" (1985) - CAN, First
Rush "Hold Your Fire" (1987) - CAN, First

New Vinyl:
Rush "Clockwork Angels" (2012)
Billy Talent "III" (2009)
Foo Fighters "Wasting Light" (2011)
Mumford and Sons "The Cave" - 7" (2010)
Mumford and Sons "Little Lion Man" - 7" (2009)
Jack White "Freedom at 21" -7" (2012)

i assume all the new vinyl is first pressing. it's not a big deal for me to have first pressings, as back then they made more copies for first pressings than they do today. but its still cool to know i have 30+ year old records that are still in great condition.

vinyl can be an expensive "hobbie", but it's fun! I only really buy Gaslight Anthem related stuff now, I sold the majority of my records last year and only kept a few.

I'll have to have a look through all mine and update my lists, I haven't touched my Deadformat tradelist since I got rid of a load of vinyl last year.

Oh, and people need to post pictures of their vinyl, they turn me on.

Not sure if I'm going to consider seriously collecting vinyl since I a) Haven't bothered to purchase a record player yet and B) I have been only getting albums of bands I really, really like. Off the top of my head I have:

The Gaslight Anthem - American Slang
The Horrible Crowes - Elsie
Sum 41 - All Killer No Filler

I have a couple of vinyl from local bands and a couple more as gag birthday gifts. I'm pretty sure I have The Gaslight Anthem's Handwritten Deluxe Edition waiting at the post office for me and possibly a 7" single of "45". I'll have to find out tomorrow.

There isn't even a place that sells CDs in Fareham...

But I have about 40 Vinyl records or so. Whole load of Blink ones, Green Day's American Idiot, Couple o' Foo Fighters & then some oldies like Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith.

The best place to buy CDs from in Lowestoft is either ASDA or Tesco. I buy pretty much everything online now.

If you plan to sell some stuff off, and you have pricing in mind and don't mind shipping to the USA, definitely hit me up. I am sure, though, that it could be a hassle and stuff! I am REALLY jealous of your collection, ESPECIALLY the blink stuff (Untitled, mainly).

The Yellowcard record I purchased was Underdog, and it was just a black vinyl. It only cost me like 4 dollars on clearance, and I dig the band so I went for it.

I was going to make a post on this site about The Gaslight Anthem, because I know some of you guys really dig them. I always couldn't stand them because of the vocalist's voice... it was so masculine and manly and it just always bothered me, kind of like the guy from Against Me! Same reason I haven't ever really been interested in that band, just the vocalists have voices I don't dig.

ANYWAYS, I was playing Further Seems Forever the other day, and after they finished, my iTunes kept playing and I heard this record that really sounded awesome. The vocalist wasn't special to me, but the music was amazing, and the vocals ended up kind of growing on me... after the record finished, I checked who it was. It was the fucking Gaslight Anthem, and the record was American Slang. I really dig the sound of the music, and now I'm going to go off and start obsessing over them! Haha. Fuck me, I'm ridiculous.

Finally, a random picture I took from tumblr of the Boys Night Out vinyl I have. You guys can see how cool the record looks! ALSO, if you have never listened to this album, please check it out. It's seriously amazing.

Haha, good man! I've always been a fan of the husky, gruff kind of voice. I don't know why though, I just like it!

One day I will complete my EOTS collection, I might sell off all but 1 of my other variants though. I still have like 8 variants of the album left to get...and the WMAA 7" that's really expensive. If anyone ever sees an EOTS test press TELL ME! haha.
