hope this is the right section...

I'm most likely gonna ask for a new guitar amp for Christmas, and I wanna go with Marshall. price range is anywhere from 200 to I'd say 400, maybe 500 USD. any suggestions on a particular model or something? thanks in advance!

are you looking for an amp to play at home for practice, or a amp for a gig or something?

if you buy a tube amp they're more reliable and better sounding, but will cost more than regular amps which you can purchase a higher wattage for a cheaper price...

I have the Mg series 30 watt dfx model. its just a 30 watt combo amp, and its great for at home jamming and it can be plenty loud. The mids on the amp are the best and even without a pedal it can produce a pretty good distorted tone, although i'd still recommend combining the amp with whatever distortion pedal you prefer. and it only costs around 200$

If you're looking for something alot louder, Guitar Center is having a sale on their Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W Amp. its 300$ , and it'd be tons louder but I couldn't personally tell you since i dont own it :P

there's some reviews here

You should better avoid the MGs. Try to get an older ValveState instead (eg. an 8040). They have hybrid preamps and solidstate poweramps. Or try out something different, the Marshalls are a bit overpriced (the cheaper ones).
