Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
Ubuntu 10.04 is an OS that totally fits my needs, Windows is the OS I hate the most of all, it's so stupid that it's unbelievable, unbearable, unimaginable and for a conscious entity using it's brain USELESS, the biggest crap that a man has ever taken is called Microsoft Windows
and if people want to say that ordinary not IT people can't use Ubuntu, it's all bullshit, I installed Ubuntu on my uncle's computer, and he is satisfied, he can totally work with it and it works fine, you just have to adjust it for his needs, so that he alone won't have to do a shit to make the software more manageable, which means that if there is a bug of any kind, fix it for him before he starts using it, Ubuntu Forums will navigate you to do that ...
I also had some problems with Ubuntu(SOLVED - ACPI issues and Audio Jack Issues), it's a fact that Microsoft works everywhere, but it works like shit, even in it's biggest functionality ...

Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
I don't understand all the sudden hate for windows. As far as I am aware, there is not a great speed different if the computers in question have the same components, and I really don't want a computer which organises everything for me. I want a computer that I can command. I don't want a sleek, shiny glossy computer either. I really just want a computer that works the way I want it.
Also, Macs, no right click? What's up with that? That's plenty of functionality lost right there.

They do have right click... It's not enabled by default on the magic mouse, but is on touch pads. Not sure about other apple mice. My razer naga right click works too :)Gregorovich wrote:I don't understand all the sudden hate for windows. like External Hard Drives, under Ubuntu it works fine without any problem, on Windows you have to work so much to make it work that it's unbelievable ( meaning - Ubuntu supports more formats )
Ubuntu is faster, Wi - Fi connection is stronger on Ubuntu as well ... I don't wanna name all the reasons, it would probably take me all week

Yeah you can have right click on mac. Even the shitty standard mice have right click (at least the ones at my uni) now. Pretty sure they realised it was a bad idea.Jake! wrote:They do have right click... It's not enabled by default on the magic mouse, but is on touch pads. Not sure about other apple mice. Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
it is slow, and it is stupid, for example I have a problem on my PC, under Windows it says that one of my hardware components(graphic card) is fucked up and it causes my computer to crash, many times in the middle of some work that I need to get done, but under Ubuntu there is no hardware problem and everything works fine, so WTF ? Does Windows 7 just make itself believe that there is a bug on my graphic card and so there is one ? :DTyler. wrote:Were you using a 10 year old computer or something? if you're satisfied with shites, than alright, but I don't wanna !
then pay 140 E for it, I'm rather gonna shoot myself in the head
and as I said, I can't catch a single signal wave in my living room when using Windows, but under Ubuntu I can watch porn like a horse fucker while being in living room(the router is placed behind one concrete wall and like 5 meters away from the place I sit) ...
there is too many reasons, like copying files is much better in Ubuntu, you can have 50 windows and in every one of them runs a different copying or recognizing much more kinds of devices or formats of hard drives ...
omg, I meant that Ubuntu can recognize more kinds of formats, the External Hard Drive was a Mac format, Windows couldn't read it, Ubuntu could read, re-write it, delete files or add files, without any further complications and it hadn't required any work to be done !Gregorovich. wrote:I have a 1TB external Hard Drive and it works just perfectly actually. On Win 7 you had to make it NTFS or FAT(which means spending my time that could and should have been used better) so that the motherfucker could finally teach itself to read the shite

Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
the way I see it. If you're using an external device. I would always go for a FAT format. You never know what kind of machine you may need to read the drive from, and FAT is used by pretty much everything. Admitedly I think it's a little shakey with single files over 4.5gig.
HFS (The mac filesystem) is however, the best going. Unless the latest Ext is actually decent?

Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
...but honestly, who uses a Mac-only hard-drive? And I'm fairly sure signal problems are purely circumstantial or computer-related, I mean, you didn't have 2 systems on a single computer, did you? I tried that and its just pointless and buggy.FuckT41182 wrote:it is slow, and it is stupid, for example I have a problem on my PC, under Windows it says that one of my hardware components(graphic card) is fucked up and it causes my computer to crash, many times in the middle of some work that I need to get done, but under Ubuntu there is no hardware problem and everything works fine, so WTF ? Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
it's not buggy when you know how to do it ... there is nothing bad about having two systems on one computer ...
and NO, it just means that Ubuntu can read the wifi signal better, it's a fact and I've came across this fact too many times at too many different places
and it doesn't matter who uses Mac- drive only, the thing that matters is that Ubuntu could read it, and Windows couldn't, people who don't want their parents to find their porn might do it for example ...

Re: The ''Computer'' Thread
I have only noticed the visual difference...so much hate for Vista but it works fine. The only thing I notice is it takes a lot of ram to just run itself but if you have 4GB it's more than perfectly fine, and 4GB costs nothing these days.
XP was good too yeah, I like the look of Vista more though. I have only used 7 at uni and we only have a couple windows computers there so I haven't used it much, I don't like the look as much.

I would die if my computer only had 4GB of RAM. Plus, Tue amount of RAM isn't the important thing. It's the speed of RAM that's important and that's why I always overclock mine.Tyler. wrote:I have only noticed the visual difference...so much hate for Vista but it works fine.
