Sum 41 Guitar Center session

Before we talk about the iconic Blondie reunion, letÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s examine the younger phenomenon of CanadiaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Sum 41. Of course, these guys exploded onto the mainstream scene in the late 90s with Ã¢â‚¬Å“Fat LipÃ¢â‚¬Â, followed by other hits Ã¢â‚¬Å“MotivationÃ¢â‚¬Â, Ã¢â‚¬Å“Makes No DifferenceÃ¢â‚¬Â, and Ã¢â‚¬Å“In Too DeepÃ¢â‚¬Â. Their new album Screaming Bloody Murder seemingly returns to their Judas Priest influences moreso than the otherwise-comparable Green Day imprint. Thus you wouldnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t think that before a gig theyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢d be emptying a bottle of Jack to a mix of The Doors and Rolling Stones; but thatÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s precisely how frontman Deryck Whibley, drummer Steve Jocz, bassist Jason Ã¢â‚¬Å“ConeÃ¢â‚¬Â McCaslin, and lead guitarist Thom Thacker (who replaced Dave Ã¢â‚¬Å“BrownsoundÃ¢â‚¬Â Baksh) rev.
For the Guitar Center session, the boys played from albums Half Hour of Power, All Killer No Filler, Does This Look Infected, Underclass Hero, Chuck- alas, the track Ã¢â‚¬Å“Pain For PleasureÃ¢â‚¬Â was not served- but from their newest release, the tracks Ã¢â‚¬Å“JESSICA KILLÃ¢â‚¬Â, Ã¢â‚¬Å“Screaming Bloody MurderÃ¢â‚¬Â, and Ã¢â‚¬Å“SkumfukÃ¢â‚¬Â (wow) were. The lyrics to the foremost track make you seriously consider WhibleyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s sex life:

Ã¢â‚¬Â¦About as charming as the interview between struggling host Nic Harcourt and an inebriated frontman (having finished the whiskey, vodka was demanded in between takes) who shuffled towards the stage in a newsboy cap and sunglasses like a misanthropic Yoko Ono midget. DonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t get me wrong, the performance was fantastic (including an inadvertent instrumental jam that sounded eerily like SabbathÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Ã¢â‚¬Å“Crazy TrainÃ¢â‚¬Â), and looked AMAZING- I actually went back into the million-dollar DirecTV truck, where walls of giant flatscreens magnetically illuminated the revolutionary power of 3D television

Nowhere in that article did it say Blood In My Eyes was played. I do like that this is coming on DirecTV though.

Correct. But if you read TNS twitter page, then you'd see that Blood In My Eyes and other new songs were played.

I don't know, maybe Back Where I Belong? (just gonna guess since they played an instrumental of it in Madrid awhile ago)

I dont think that SBM will be a good album live. The vocals get real high, and it sounds like they added alot of effects and multiple tracks to the mix. Skumfuk sounded good, but SBM doesnt sound good live. Maybe Blood im my eyes will be good live, but Jessica Kill will probably be a fail.

I just wish they were as good live as they were in 2005...

I think it will sound good actually, Deeyck's voice constantly improves, it will just sound different (on the record there is often some distortion on his voice, that's about it), well we'll see it soon anyway !

On Chuck Deryck's vocals were layered a bunch and it made his voice sound much deeper than it actually is.

On Chuck Deryck's vocals were layered a bunch and it made his voice sound much deeper than it actually is.

Yeah, I found that weird the first time I listened to Chuck. It was like, "Wow, his voice is really 'dark' sounding on this album!"

Jessica Kill will be tough, I think Deryck will have to remove a few words because he won't do it with breath. The part before chorus and chorus. Or Tom or Cone could sing it.

I will not give my opinion about if it sounds good or bad the album live, 'til listen live, so for this songs "Blood In My Eyes" and "Jessica Kill", I will give my opinion until hearing them, when I see the video live
