Sum 41 - What's this for a band?

Post by Faeyaner »

What would you answer when someone asks you: "Sum 41? What music do they play (genre)?"
And what bands would you compare to them, in genral over the past decade and just looking at SBM ?

And how can you describe the band to someone who doesn't know them, in matters of characters and behavior spoken?
have a try and test your knowledge:

It’s like sounding really nice, having a good feel, that’s all about the guitar.
That’s what I care about. I’d rather be a better strummer than fuckin' jizz all over the fuckin' fretboard...

I do appreciate this lovely compliment but I think the Japanese are the craziest biggest hard-die fans.

I would probably reply with "Their style changes with every album, it's kind of hard to explain."

Then I would make them listen to Screaming Bloody Murder because they would only know about Fat Lip and In Too Deep.

The Sums are one of the most hard-categorized bands out there, but when someone asks me what kind of music they play I always say something like "They're a punk rock band with metal-influences, but it's hard to say straight out as all their albums are different".

It started off with pop punk which is easily compared with Green Day and Blink 182.
Than they got heavier for dtli, and than pretty emo for chuck (no offence)
Underclass hero was like a toned down version of their early pop punk style but no as good and the new album sounds...?
Idk we'll have to hear more of it but it's sounding a lot like chuck, kinda muse and... My Chemical Romance :suicide:
Either way their new stuff still sounds really good and they are the one band that never dissapointed me so i hope it stays like that.
