it's not bad, could have been slightly better, but it's kinda cool as well at same time

I think should have left "Presents" bit out and made Sum 41 logo tiny bit bigger and should have used single logo, cos that looks bit better as well, but all in all, I still quite like it, 8 out 10

Thanks for making a new topic. I HATE using the other massively long thread, this forum needs more threads anyway.

Also, I love the album cover.

i don't think it's bad at all, but it's definitely not something i expected. i'm not even really sure what it's a picture of. but we all have to get used to it so that we know what to look for when we go to stores to buy it.

usually when new album covers are released i see if it's something i'd like to redraw; i do that with a few album covers that were interesting (nightmare by a7x, plastic beach by gorillaz, the last 3 rx bandits albums, etc) but i doubt i'm going to sketch this out.

wonder who that person is; maybe one of the band members? also blood in my eyes will probably be a single since the lyrics are on the cover.
the 'presents' thing might be their way of saying this is going to be a big album; i think green day did it with american idiot too, not to make any rash comparisons. i do like that the blood/red is more concentrated on one side

there's not much anyone can do but judge. it's not like they'd change their mind to the album cover. though i remember recently a band did change their album cover because it was so bad, into an album cover that was still pretty bad but in a lesser magnitude.

also i remembered ozzy's album was originally going to be called soul sucka but changed it due to negative feedback.

I think it's better than the single artwork, and I can see "Blood in my eye" in the background. I say it's better than Underclass Hero, but not better than Chuck.

The art is really growing on me as well. I think you all gave in to peer pressure and hated on it.

It's simple, but it's actually well done and not "amateur" like some of you say.
The main text is slightly three dimensional and the sizing, angle, and placement are all very nice.

The 'Sum 41 presents' placement is the only problem I have. I still like it, especially the 'presents' which does indeed seem reminiscent of Green Day's American Idiot. And that was a masterpiece of album.

The blood is subtle and doesn't look bad like many people's attempts to photoshop blood splats. The hand and its shadow looks good as well, along with the fade from black in the bottom.

And the "I'm leaving with blood in my eyes" is a great touch, also well placed and not overly visible, but faint enough to notice and understand. I still want to know why the version posted earlier had a 7 in the bottom, but now there's a 6.

All in all, a good album artwork. Doesn't seem out of place when comparing all the albums together.

I think is like a horror film of the 60, 70 & 80's, the font emphasize in this characteristic of the cover, like this :devious:

i might like it slightly better if the blood wasn't there, but I'm still not crazy about it. I was hoping for something more simple and less literal

really? i think the blood adds something to the cover. here you have a picture in black and white, and there's some blood to add something different. i agree it's too literal, but i prefer this over something plain like a blank white cover with black words reading "screaming bloody murder" and "sum 41". the blood isn't overdone, and the motion the blood makes across the album cover (more concentrated on one side and more dispersed and lighter as it goes away from the blood is interesting. i actually like the lighting too; there's more light over the album name and the hand, and it gets darker at the bottom where the blood is.

i'm not sure what it's called when you have something contrast the rest of the picture, but in my opinion the blood really adds to it. i think without it, the album cover would look too clean.

It still doesn't have to be interpreted literally. The great thing about artwork is that you can interpret anything any way you want, so, in basically all cases, one piece of art will mean vastly different things for different people

yeah for sure, I was just giving my opinion. I was an art student for a year and have always been involved in art. My style is clean, simple, bold, effective and this just doesn't fit my style, thats all :glad:

I like the cover

I have absolutely no idea why, but the Screaming Bloody Murder font reminds me of the cover of the movie Zombieland. lol

I wasn't expecting something so literal either, but I don't mind it. The only problem I have with it is that this picture posted just seems like low quality, like everything but the title seems pixelated.

I really like the font of "Screaming Bloody Murder" though. Reminds me of those old horror movies.

Wonder what SUM41's message to us are with this cover, it certainly doesn't look much like a "Fuck You" to me though

The hand should've been flipping the bird and instead of the lyrics from Blood In My Eyes it should've read, "We're back, fuck you." :2cool4u:

EDIT: One thing I want to add about the whole "Sum 41 Presents" thing, that it kind of makes it tie in more with the whole corny 70's horror flick theme that I think is what the band is trying to accomplish with this cover. Much like "Green Day Presents" American Idiot, which was described as a rock opera, it's like Screaming Bloody Murder is a performance or a show of epic proportions with the use of "Sum 41 Presents".
