How different would things be for Michael Jackson and music in general? I was just wondering, how things would have changed had the Jackson 5's first single "I Want You Back" had been a dud. In your opinion, what do you think? How would Michael Jackson, music, and pop culture be affected in your opinion. Just curious

Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, and I love his music. However, I don't know how much today's pop music would necessarily have been affected. MJ's music actually had mostly real instruments (excluding this new posthumous release). I can't stand all of the new poppy digital music where everything is synthesized and made on the computer. I'm not hating electronic music, but certainly electronic pop, or what is now simply "pop."

I love MJ for his music, perfection and stage performance. He was a creppy dude i'll give you that but i've never believed sickening stories about him, but he was the master of his own downfall. Anyway pop music would be quite different if he hadn't been around i suppose, i like his new album and the only reason the vocals sound different is becuase it wasn't a studio album, it was bits and pieces recorded at different times, it had unreleased songs from the Thriller album on it so it's bound to sound different vocally. Or maybe Sony has lied to us all and got someone who sounds like MJ to record things, who knows. But i know what i believe about the album and him as the great musician and entertainer he was
