He's rich, if he really wanted to keep in touch he would just get a new computer, and we all know Deryck's given some questionable excuses in the past.

Maybe he just doesn't feel like using the computer? I make those kinds of excuses sometimes too, like "Oh, I wish I could come but my car is having troubles." Or the classic, "My phone battery is dying, gotta go!" Haha

Well, truth be told, I don't think we've missed much even if he didn't (doesn't) really use his computer. It's pretty quiet with Sum 41 anyways, and I don't think Deryck would give us any "new" or worthwhile info, since well.. erm, there's nothing worthwhile to inform. Once they announce that they start their work on the next album (or when they find a new drummer), whenever that might be, rest assured that the members of the band will activate online again. ^^

Being rich doesn't mean you just go and buy a new $1500 computer whenever the old one is having some issues.

It's 2013... there's no frickin' way he couldn't have found a pc to log in facebook and write something.

So it's pretty obvious a lame excuse, but at least we know he's alive. :D
And I know there's nothing going on with the band, but I would like to see Deryck's own website and BIME acoustic version as he promised in early summer.

At least he gave us an "excuse". He doesn't owe us anything, so why are you mad at him not being active on Facebook? Making fake profiles for him? We should be glad that he even made a profile for himself. Did you expect him to post funny pics every week like Stevo? This is Deryck we're talking about, who has always talked about how bad he is at computer stuff.

If my post seemed like I'm mad, it wasn't my intention and I'm not mad at him at all. Maybe worried, because let's be honest guys, everything that has happened with the band lately, it's not promising at all...
And of course he doesn't owe us anything, but hey, there's so many, many fans who count on him and the band. It's called "respect", he should respect us as we do him, he should show that he still cares about Sum 41. Yeah, he says that "everything's okay, maybe after 2 years new album will be released", but these words mean nothing if after that he disappears for months. Again, there's no way he couldn't find another computer or even if he doesn't care about tech, he doesn't have anyone who could write in his behalf? He couldn't tell Cone or Tom "hey buddy, please tell our fans that we're okay, I have just some computer difficulties"? So yeah, no matter how I see it, it's still a lame excuse.

All in all: I'm really not mad at him, but as someone said in "unpopular opinions" topic, it seems they don't care about us so much and don't do so many things for fans as they always claim, especially nowadays.
I think first they should do something about their communication channels and I'm not saying Deryck posts photos about himself everyday and tells joke or anything like that, but only 1 post a month about what's going on with the band (even if there's nothing so interesting or import thing) would be enough and this really wouldn't be a big deal at all, I think. If they don't communicate with fans and show that they still care, why should they expect from us to hold on to them and wait until they do anything at all? How could a band live on this way?

Got a question:
The Metallica set Sum 41 did few years back, (hoodwink or something), is there any better quality videos (or even audio) anywhere than what I can find on youtube? They are all 360p or max 480p. (For some reason I can't remember myself if there was when they got released..) I think they're one of the best performances by sums ever, but the quality kinda ruins it.. Actually, I really hope they would make a BD-release of the set. :P
