Dude it does really matter what you're recording. For say, for drums you'd need at least 3 mic inputs at the same time (snare, bass drum and overheads), for guitars/bass and vox I'd recommend you to buy something which is similar to this http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_ca/FastTrackPro.html then to buy a decent mic instead of going with the one that is included with your $100 pack.

go to a small music studio
there are lots of them in here,where u can also practice etc.
it will cost so much cheaper

Well, i'd only be recording vocals and guitar. I'd find a prgram for drums.

You'll just get crap sounding demos if you don't have a budget that turns around of $400-$500.

It's either the above option or the best for you would be to recording your stuff at a recording studio.

One of my flat mates has one of those M Audio boxes, he's set up his own little recording studio just in his bed room. Great if you have a Mac.
