So, c'mon Sum 41?

Post by Jake-41 »

I was looking over some really old topics the other day and noticed, this site was once-apon-a-time, a VERY Sum 41 dedicated site. It doesen't feel like that anymore!
Sooooo, in all seriousness, how many REAL Sum 41 fans are left?

This is a serious thread, PLEASE answer truthfully.

Sum 41 fan through and through, I've been to every Sum 41 gig in Glasgow since 2001. I wouldn't call myself their best fan but I really do have love for Sum 41 and I'm quite proud to be mod of the best Sum 41 fansite around.

I don't care for Sum 41 that much anymore. the thing is, you kinda move on from banmds, like the older you get your music taste changes. I have never loved Sum 41 like other bands and like how some people on here do, so for me, they were never one of those bands that I would always love and would always hold a special place in my heart. they're just a good band imo.

It's true that it's not as dedicated as it used to be. I used to check this site daily, sometimes hourly lol.
Now it's weekly, or even monthly. Not the same anymore, shame :sosad:

As far as moving on from bands because of getting older, this band grabbed me since I first knew about them and have never let go since. I first learned about sum 41 before the AKNF album came out and I went with a few friends to the video shoot for Fat Lip, I was sold ever since.
And two days after the video shoot, the whole band came into my beach restaurant for lunch, it was so awesome.
I've been to a few of their concerts & shows, and went to their UH video shoot.
I would never hesitate to see them again, they're the greatest band, evah!

But yes this site was very dedicated, not anymore.

We had a thread like this month ago, and there i said:
TomiT14 wrote:I've always had some downtimes, especially when there's a long gap between the albums.
There could be months without listening a single song by them.

But I've never really stopped loving them. Especially when the new album is coming out, I start to listen to the older songs even more. And when the album comes out, I don't listen anything else for a long time. :)

They are my clear #1 favourite band, even though not always #1 on my playlist.
Sums were the first band I ever got into, and I've loved them ever since.
"When you grow up, your taste in music changes too" doesn't apply for me.
My taste in music has grown the same way Sum 41 has changed their style. So their music has always been good to me. And I still listen to the same music I listened to 8 years ago.
Even though I listen to some different music than I used to, it doesn't mean I stop listening to the old stuff.

So to the topic, I consider myself being a huge Sum 41 fan. Otherwise I would've bought the 9 different versions of UH for nothing.

I will always listen a few bands and sum41 is one of them. I don't really search new music anymore, I stick with what I have. I'm at the point where I've found my music and I don't think that it will ever change radically.

My thoughts exactly. For a few years already I've been fine with what I already got, and not really looked for new bands.

exactly, to be a fan, you don't have to wank over the band every night and think they're the greatest thing in the world.

I'm a Sum 41 fan.
There are loads of other bands I prefer to Sum 41
I didn't like Underclass Hero.
All Killer, No Filler was one of the first albums I bought.

am I a Sum 41 fan? yes. have I got a right to be here? yes. do I like cock? yes. will this place be as active if it was only die hard Sum 41 fans? no.

same, most new stuff is shit that's way too overplayed on the radio.

I love Sum 41! They are my absolute favorite band. I do listen to other stuff, and recently have been listening to Sum 41 less, but I have a variety of music that all needs playing. I started liking Sum 41 about 5 years ago, in 2004. I was in sixth grade then, and my sister made me a mix CD with all kinds of good stuff, (blink, 3DG, Story of the Year, Sum 41, etc.) and I remember the first time I listened to it, Over My Head was the third song, and The Hell Song was the thirteenth. I listened and was hooked! All I had to do was hear those 2 songs to know Sum 41 would be my favorite band. Then, I would watch Fuse (back when it was a good tv station) with my sister, and the We're All to Blame video would come on a lot, same with Pieces occasionally. I also remember watching Fuse's special "the making of We're All to Blame". I miss those days, now my sister is off to college, and it may sound cheesy but I really want to thank her, because if it weren't for that mix CD, god knows what I would be listening to now. :hehe:

yep,. those were the good old days...before music sucked.
Now when I look for music, I try to remember what I used to watch on Fuse.

I also do remember before this happened, around the DTLI era, my sister was watching The Hell Song music vid, and I had my friend over, and we showed up at the part with the flashing barbies. lol

stop listening to the fuckin radio then and actually put some effort into finding new music. the internet is your friend.

I don't understand why people wouldn't want to discover new music? am I the only one here who's thinking this?

Well for me, not looking for new bands doesn't mean no new music.
I'm always looking forward to the new material from the bands I like.
But I feel great with what I already got, so no need to discover more bands.

which is why I said that when I look for new music, I look for what I listened to on Fuse years ago.

for example, a few months ago I found out I like some Hawthorne Heights
