You know you made it if your album makes people do that.

You do.
I actually looked around for my 3D specs I saved from Avatar two summers ago, but I guess they're gone. Sad.

Different font, away with the cliche blood hand stain and it would be gold. A frankenstein version of this an the official one, essentially.
yeah, I don't like the hand either, I just made it for fun, but i don't really like it anymore...haha, maybe I'll work on it and post it up just for fun.

If you think about it, Sum 41 have never had a "serious, non-retro" album cover in the past. Almost all of them have had a trend of being either tacky or retro-feeling or both.

Half Hour of Power (Tacky, retro)

Image
It's Stevo with a water-gun doing the cliche, action, in-front-of-an-explosion-style scene. Stevo's picture looks like it was cut from a newspaper with those dots (I forget if they have a proper name).

All Killer No Filler (Tacky)

Image
The photos are polaroids of just ugly-looking dudes plastered on the entire cover. It's ridiculous.

Does This Look Infected? (Retro)

Image
The success of All Killer was probably what led to the better quality of this cover, but even so, you can see the screaming woman, which is reminiscent of those old sci-fi/horror movies like "It Came From Outer Space".

Chuck (Retro)

Image
Again, kind of a retro-style album cover thanks to the use of those cartoons of kids that look like they belong in the 1940's era. "Chuck" looks like it's just thrown in and awkwardly placed.

Go Chuck Yourself

Image
Not quite sure what was trying to be accomplished with this one.

Underclass Hero (Retro)

Image
I felt this one was kind of out of place with the others. It wasn't trying to be funny, but it could've been a throwback to The Clash, whose album cover was similar in style.

8 Years of Sake, Blood and Tears

Image
This one was pretty cool. It's up there on the "ridiculous scale" of All Killer No Filler having the entire cover made up of sushi.

All the Good Shit (Tacky, retro)

Image
Tacky and retro definitely go hand in hand with this one. The "Stereo" in the top left, the price tag censorship, the use of the term "Solid Gold Hits"... It's also quite ridiculous with the shuttle having wings.

Screaming Bloody Murder

I don't know about anyone else, but I think Screaming Bloody Murder looks 10 times better when you put it beside all the other album covers.

yeah i thought pretty much the same thing as you dude. i didn't like underclass hero cos it just had deryck on his own like it was all his work (even though by videos maybe it kinda was lol) but yeah it looked a bit douchey.

the only thing i find wrong with the SBM one at the moment is it looks too much like a computer graphics sort of thing, i think it might look weird in an actual CD cover. maybe because there's not enough colour in it

i think Screaming Bloody Murder is on-par with Chuck in the "maturity" category. also, does anyone else think that the SBM cover looks like a cover for a board game like Clue?

Nice comparison, Jeremy. SBM is kind of like DTLI? to me but less ridiculous and darker instead. I actually like it, even the first time I saw it. The only thing that I don't like about it, is how the hand is placed/edited/masked. Seems odd somehow, but it's not that bad.

I actually think AKNF is my favourite album cover, just because of how stupid and pointless it is.

Haha now that you lined up all the album covers, SBM is easily the best one.
