actually, on second thought, i'd probably change #3 to Speak of the Devil.

i don't understand the love over Dear Father or King of Contradiction. KoC is ok, but compared to Pieces or Blood In My Eyes, it's definitely third in my opinion. And Dear Father is just a epic fail. i get that its about Deryck's dickbag father who was never there, but the song just falls flat with an uninspired melody and chord progression. the lyrics were alright, but knowing other songs Deryck has written, it could have been much better. there's no way it's better than any one of the other Track 4's, excluding THT.

Yeah, I didn't really want to break up A Dark Road Out of Hell either, but to me Happiness Machines stands out because its structure is so orthodox that it can pretty much be seen as a song on its own. The other two songs don't have any structure so it's easy for me to see them as part of one song.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... I didn't have a hard time cutting Happiness Machines from the team. :P

yeah agree with that, the transition from SOE to HM isn't as good on the album as it is live and it does follow more structure.
