They knew there was some sort of storm coming, but there was no way anyone could have predicted it was gonna be so bad when it got to the festival site.
The storm got worse and worse, until it reached the festival. Such a very bad and very sad coincidence.

I think one thing contributing to these accidents is the mentality that the show goes on no matter what. For some reason many festivals want to keep playing when weather warnings are issued like it's Woodstock or something. I know sporting events do this to a degree as well. When the south got pounded by strong storms this year, many of the news footage was from sporting events, stuff crashing down inside the venue and all. And tornado warnings had been issued
Weather is so unpredictable, it would be better to postpone events for a couple hours or days to save lives.
