Where'd all the drummers go?

Post by SociallyInept »

Ok, so this isn't really an emotional problem at all but it is, nevertheless, a problem. So me and my band have been looking for a drummer for about 2 years now. We've gone through like two drummers who have actually had professional training, one never showed up to practice and the other was looking for a little more experienced band. I've pretty much exhausted all my resources. I've tried putting up posters at local music stores, making facebook groups, myspace bulletins, etc.. I just dunno what to do anymore. My dad is a musician and he's gonna ask the drummer in his band if he teaches anyone who might be interested in joining our band but he never got back to us. So I guess what I'm asking is, does anybody have any suggestions to try to find a drummer for my band?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Oh, and if you want to check us out just follow the link in my sig.

lol well im a drummerbut sucks that i live in the middle east huh?

i know what u mean man, drummers are very rare especially here...but even after all that i'm quite surprised you got no feedback. We over here have an online forum which is all about the local music scene, it has a "Searching for" section. You can try on forums for your area or something that can help sometimes (i found my bands bassist through online forums :P)

anyway good luck with the search

peace

So would I. They wouldn't even have to know how to play- they'd just have to have a drum set. :?

its the same way for our school band. we have 3 percussionists. back in grade 6 and 7 when everyone wanted to be in band, there were 11. a lot of them have real short attension spans, i guess :?

I know what you mean.
There are seriously no drummers.
Everyone plays fucking guitar.
I started playing bass cuz I thought it would help out my band (me and just ONE OTHER PERSON NOW) if i played bass + did vocals.. now i am going to end up just vocals cuz bass is even too hard for me (i'm musically fucked) and our problem is that there's no one around here that we know that is good at bass/drums that will play with us cuz they're all METAL FTW or OLDSCHOOLROCK&ROLL!! we're all newemorock/posthardcore.
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,

I'm just not ready to leave my room.

The drummer in our band is a grade 8 classical guitarist who doesnt like punk rock.

He just likes making noise.

I know what you mean. I don't know a single person with the same tastes in music. My friend, Chris, like a lot of the same music, but he hates acoustic music. He's the other guy in my band.. and if he'd just enjoy acoustic music, we'd be able to make some good shit.

Haha, yeah I have to agree. Especially in my town. Pretty much everyone that played an instrument played guitar. Anyone that played drums either sucked or was already in a band. But there were even fewer bass players.

I also agree with the metal/old rock and roll bands. Most bands in my school were screamo/metal bands. So yeah, Battle of the Bands was hell at my school.

Lol, at least I'm not the only one who can't find a drummer. I wonder why no one wants to play drums. They're so fun to play.

I have a small kit I got at a pawn shop for like 60 bucks. But I know what you mean. New kits can be fucking crazy expensive. But you can always just get a cheap kit to start out with. As for the noise levels, you could always soundproof the area you jam in. I dunno, just ideas.
