Has anyone saw the movie "Cloverfield" in here?
For those who doesn't know (there are such people?), its this Sci-Fi Action Thriller produced by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias, Mission Impossible III) about some random giant monster that attacks New York.
What makes the film super original is the fact it is filmed in a video camera by one of the main characters and as such, its a movie seen in first person, through the eyes of one person.
It tells about a guy named Rob who's having a goodbye party since he's leaving the US for a job in Japan, but everything's goes totally wrong when this monster attacks.
I thought it was a great and a very unique movie with great acting (the guy who played Rob was pretty awesome), and great visual and sound effects.
Overall, i give it a 9 out of 10, and i can't wait to the sequel which is supposed to come out next year.

Re: Cloverfield
i think the movie sucked. i was really disappointed with it because it seemed cool from the trailers and previews
1. i almost threw up from all the motion
2. it had a fucked up storyline
3. it didnt explain a lot of things from the fucked up storyline
4. we never got to see the monster clearly
it did have some pretty good effects and the acting wasn't very bad so i'd give it a 5/10.

yeah, this is hollywood too, but its refreshing and surprising.
how many blockbusters have you seen where everyone dies, even the main characters.
the special effects arent important, and we dont see the monster to give it that sense of mystery.
sorry, im analyzing this way too much. damn you, media studies!!!
but, you get my point...

it was good.
but the movie pissed me off, and the fact that i cant ask the actual questions because the people who haven't seen it flip out on me
and um, we got good views of the monster. really good actually.
it was awesome, but i hated the ending.

Re: Cloverfield
Yeah i didn't like the ending either.
It was annoying that they haven't explained anything at all, but at least it was kinda of refreshing.
Anyway, they are making a sequel so hopefully it'll explain all those unanswered questions from the first one.

Re: Cloverfield
thats what annoyed me the most i think, that there wasnt enough explanation, and i just wanna know what happened after the camera stopped and those people died.Hentaiman wrote:Yeah i didn't like the ending either.

Re: Cloverfield
It's one of my favorite movies recently. I think it was kind of the point to make alot of the story a secret, the idea was to be the person holding the camera or whatever. That, and JJ Abrams was the writer or producer or something, so of course the story is gonna be screwed up :D

I don't remember any good shots of the monster but I think that's what makes it scarier. You have no idea how big it is or any of that shit. The shit that you don't see is always scarier then the shit you do see.
EDIT: Here's a pic of the Cloverfield toy for anyone who's wondering what it looks like
