Yesterday Sum 41 played the belgian festival Groezrock and according to this article (http://focus.knack.be/entertainment/muz ... 98113.html) they played some new songs for the first time.

Knack is a respected magazine over here in Belgium. Even better: I know the guy who wrote this article, I was in college with him. I asked him if they really played new songs live and he said: 'Yeah, I believe there was one new song in the set.'

In the review (which wasn't too positive, by the way), he states:
Even the couple of new songs they played, sounded kinda weak. Although they claim it's the best music they've ever written, it was not surprising at all.
Well if that's all it takes to be a writer for a respected magazine, I think I should give it a go.

Haha I know...

I talked about him the other night and he admitted he doesn't know a lot of songs from the recent albums.

That being said, his review was quite negative in the magazine but he told me: "I had to be kinda negative, because Sum 41 isn't a thing anymore. But hey, I danced myself through their whole show because it was actually quite good."

Who the fuck is up there deciding what is a "thing" and what isn't? That's ridiculous. Not to mention he actually liked it, that's even more ridiculous.

On another note, everytime a new post appears here, I secretly hope it's some new sample/news about the album. Possibly someone thought the same about this one, right? :D

What the fuck. That doesn't even make any sense...
So one has to write a shitty review about a band because they are not too present in the media, even if you thought they were good.

A friend of mine used to work for for NME, they told her what to write based on who was 'in' or not, and whose record label had a deal with the magazine. So take all professional reviews with a pinch of salt and have faith in your own ability to critically evaluate music on an objective/artistic rather than social level.
fuck this signature nonsense

Still hoping for a single before summer (and warped tour) and an album by let's say September.

Yup, feels like a new single and accompanying video are just around the corner!

Dave posted on Instagram saying "@sum41 new stuff soon"

And Cone posted a photo of himself, Dave, and Tom post-video shoot.

You can only hear a little bit of the drums from the new single or whatever they want to release.

It does look awkward haha but that's always what videos are like. Sorry to say but it looks fairly generic, in a parking lot in LA. It would be nice to see a bit of humour or story to one of their videos, maybe they just don't have the money even though they're now on a label.

Also, the album should be pretty much done. Found this on Tom Lord Alge's website:
Most recently, Tom completed mixing the forthcoming album for the triumphant return of platinum punk rock band Sum 41.

It's Official!
The new album will be coming out in the fall of this year. As we have more specific info, we’ll be sharing it with you, FIRST!
I also think a new single is very close after having shot a music video last week and Hopeless Records tweeting this:
The wait for new @Sum41 is killing us...
