Attacks in Paris

Post by TomiT14 »

On behalf of the TNS staff, our heart goes out to everyone affected by these devastating news in Paris.

We have learned that a long time Sum 41 crew member, merch guy "Handsome" Nick Alexander, was working at the Bataclan concert hall during yesterday's attacks. The status of the crew members is still unknown, but we will post an update as soon as we hear something new.

Damn, this hit too close to home. It's way too early to tell, but there are too many posts around Twitter and Facebook that say he didn't make it. Some say he was shot, but for now it's just hearsay.

Whichever the case, I really wish Nick and all the other members of the crew are safe. This is just too terrible to think right now.

All of you who saw Sum 41 live in Europe between the Eastpak Tour in 2010 until their last Euro tour in 2012 and visited the merch booth, you most likely got the chance to meet him. The band also took him with them on their DTLI tour in US. We got familiar with eachother, since I became a frequent face for him during those Euro tours. He helped me a lot and did me huge favors at shows. Such a great guy.

As the fate of Nick Alexander is still not confirmed, The Telegraph got to interview Nick's friend Helen Wilson, who was the last to see Nick at the venue. :sosad:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... ctims.html
“We heard a couple of noises outside and people started running into the club. We didn’t know what was going on,” said Miss Wilson.

“Then maybe five, six guys came in with machine guns and shotguns and just started shooting people. It was mayhem.

“When anyone started running they would shoot them down. So we got down on the floor. I was afraid whenever I heard a step behind me... they machine-gunned everybody."

Mrs Wilson, who ran a catering company in Paris was injured following the attack at the Bataclan nightclub.

“Nick was in front of me when we were lying on the ground and somebody moved and they just turned around and started shooting us."

“His back was to me and I couldn’t see what happened and I tried to keep him talking and then I tried to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and they [the gunmen] were just sort of in the shadows and they would shoot if anyone said anything."

“Then he couldn’t breathe any more and I held him in my arms and told him I loved him. He was the love of my life.”

Miss Wilson was shot in both thighs and was taken to Saint-Antoine hospital in Paris, after being bandaged and receiving a blood transfusion.

The fate of Mr Alexander, 36, a merchandiser working with the band, is not yet known but it is feared he died.

Miss Wilson said she was still clinging to the hope that he had somehow managed to survive.

“Nick and I were together many years ago and it didn’t work out,” she said. “Once in a while we would bump into each other at very strange places and he phoned me the night before the incident and said he was in Paris and I went to see him and we spent a big part of the night talking about things that happened in the past and I was so happy to be seeing him and then this happened.”

She said when emergency workers finally helped her out of the building, she lost sight of him.

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing away of Thomas Ayad, the former project manager of Sum 41 at Universal France. There are no words that can describe the violence here.
