Hey, I don't know if this is the right place or time to ask this but I've been really curious about a part of a potential song back in the days of producing SBM.
Starts at 0:40

What happened to this part?

There is something special with this style that I kind of feel in the most recent update with the guitar riff.

Where were you 3 years ago? :glad:

I asked Deryck about it when I last met him in Russia.
The working title for the infamous "Ignorance No More" B-side was called "Believe". The clip we've heard is a verse, not the chorus.
Also, Heather interviewed him about it as well.
FC: In one studio update, we heard a sneak peak of the lyrics: "I don't believe in ignorance no more ourselves we deceive".Could we possibly hear this song and other SBM cuts on future releases?

D: Anything’s possible. That was a song I was trying to finish for the record that I just couldn’t seem to figure out. It was the only song that gave me any problems on this one. Hopefully I will finish someday because I really like where it’s going. It’s heading down the right path I just wish it would take me the rest of the way.

AND, Amin even started a petition for it. :glad:

EDIT: Awkward. I just saw you posting on those threads as well. :silly:

I know! Well half of the reason I ask is because I don't remember much being said about it and maybe I wasn't clear I wanted an update on what was being said 3 years ago. Maybe the song will finally be finished when this new album comes around? Or will it remain a lost piece? That's what intrigues me right now when going back watching some of the old studio updates

It really has potential! I think it will become one of my favorite songs if you do finish it. Good luck finishing it!!! :glad:

I was on holiday when the site went live so missed the best stuff but managed to snag a signed vinyl in the end.

@Bizzy - what are your thoughts on crowdfunding like this for the new album? Do you think you guys will sign to a label as well?

I for one, hope that this album would be released this year or early next year just so I can go to yet another Sum 41 show because for some time they have been my favourite shows.

Same. I've been to a bunch of shows since the Sums went on a break, and none of them had the same energy or didn't seem to enjoy the stage as much as Sum 41 has.

Gregorovich wrote:I'm pretty sure we already have a new album thread. And there's no discussion on here because there's no real reason to be.

Anyway I'm hoping, as doubtful as it may be, that they'll experiment more with structure and sound as they seemed to do a bit on SBM. I don't really want to hear another album full of 3:25 verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus rock songs.
A long time ago I was told humans used to be the reason for discussion.
This is Mark Allen Hoppus. He likes long walks on the beach. This, this is travis barker. He likes to be read poetry just before sunset. And me, I like to stick small pieces of furniture up my butt.

I spy on my dad while he is taking a shower just like everyone else
Mark: Sometimes when I talk in 3rd person i end up calling tom mark
Tom:Yea than he starts touching me and i think thats masturbation
Some people think were idiots or perverts dont argue were both.
"i think we're gonna be one of those bands thats around forever and even makes records, even if noones buying them and using them for toilet paper...but we'll still make them because we'll be the best fuckin toilet paper anyones ever used...." - Tom Delonge

I've been meaning to post about this for a while, but now I finally remembered!

You remember the riff Deryck posted on Instagram? It didn't occur to me right away, but it really felt familiar. Couple of months later I was listening to Subject To Change, and it hit me.

Starting from 0:39. Or is it only me?

Good catch, they are similar but not the same. Sorta use some same notes but I'd say it's 50% new and 50% subject to change :)

Nice! I didn't realize that. There's more variation in the new song's riff than Subject to Change's, but it does sound like the same notes.
