since Sum 41 left Island Records, any ideas or perhaps facts on what they're gonna do now? wonder what label they'll sign with next....

Does anyone know how rich the guys are? Ideally they never sign with a record label again, but considering they're not that huge any more I dunno if they could afford to pay for absolutely everything themselves. Maybe they could start a Kickstarter for their next album lol.

"Wait and see" was their path right now. So I'd guess they will start to plan things out whenever they start to make the new record.

Hopefully they will be able to roll out things faster.
Not that they are particularly working fast but at least when work is done it will be out in time.

Wonder what will happen after the DTLI tour, They can do kind of anything these days so i wonder what they will do

They'll have the Australian shows in February, and there have been talks that they would tour the West Coast of North America aswell. I'd say that they'll probably tour for the Summer, then some time off. They've already toured the album for almost 3 years, so I'd guess it's time for them to take a longer break and hopefully write something new.

I really hope that Sum 41 goes with a smaller label that gives them what they deserve. It was a weird situation having Sum 41 on Island Records.. They were on such a big label, but were dwarfed by other artists on the label (Bieber, The Killers, Mariah Carey) .. so Island didn't fiscally depend solely on them and as you all know, it seemed Island didn't give a shit.. If they were on a smaller label, that label would probably focus a lot of time and energy towards them cause they would see them as a big money maker.

tl;dr ..sum 41 could be to a smaller label, what justin bieber is to Island

well I did say "I have no idea how valid this site is:" lol..

but it is nine albums if you (for some reason) include their 3 live albums... but my guess is that site is just wrong.

I'd like to see Deryck start a label of his own as he seems to have a really broad knowledge of the industry at large. Not sure he has the right connections in the biz to pull it off though. Epitaph would be great, either.

Either Epitaph or Hopeless Records. It seems like Hopeless did only good for Yellowcard lately.

All I know is: some labels sign awesome bands and others sign shitty bands. I think essentially, all labels function the same. You just need to find a label that will promote and work with you the best way possible.

That'll most likely quench a lot of your curiosity.

If Sum sign with a major record label, like Geffen and literally sell their soul, Geffen will make Sum41 like Adele or One Direction is now, If Sum sign with a minor record label like Epitaph or something, their next album wouldn't have so much sales, example: Hurley - Weezer..

I'm pretty sure Weezer only sold little records because it's a common opinion that they are shite.
