Old English is a language.
Yes, but I'd have thought it evolved over time. I obviously know nothing about it, but I just thought that would make sense.
Old English bares resemblance to Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and Germanic languages, and is almost completely unintelligible to those who haven't studied it. Old English also uses a handful of letters not found in the modern English alphabet, and carries with it a three-gender system, similar to eastern-Eurpoean languages. After 1066, Middle English came about which had a much more significant Norman influence, and which is much easier to understand for speakers of Modern English, although almost all words are spelled and pronounced differently.

Old English (From Beowulf):
HWÆT, WE GAR-DEna in geardagum,
þeodcyninga þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon!
oft Scyld Scefing sceaþena þreatum,
monegum mægþum meodosetla ofteah,
egsode eorlas, syððanærest wearð
feasceaft funden; he þæs frofre gebad,
weox under wolcnum weorðmyndum þah,
oð þæt him æghwylc ymbsittendra
ofer hronrade hyran scolde,
gomban gyldan; þæt wæs god cyning!
Ðæm eafera wæs æfter cenned
geong in geardum, þone God sende
folce to frofre; fyrenðearfe ongeat,
þe hie ær drugon aldorlease
lange hwile; him þæs Liffrea,
wuldres Wealdend woroldare forgeaf,
Beowulf wæs breme --- blæd wide sprang---
Scyldes eafera Scedelandum in.
Swa sceal geong guma gode gewyrcean,
fromum feohgiftumon fæder bearme,
Middle English (From The Canterbury Tales):
Whan that Aprill with his shouressoote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour
Of which vertuengendred is the flour,
Whan Zephiruseek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halve cours yronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye
(so priketh hem Nature in hir corages),
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages,
And palmeres for to seken straunge strondes,
To ferne halwes, kowthe in sondry londes;
And specially from every shires ende
Of Engelond to Caunterbury they wende,
The hooly blisful martir for to seke,
That hem hath holpen whan that they were seeke.
Well that's enough education for me today, good thing I bunked off double English or my head would've popped.

I can handle middle english, thankfully I'm not supposed to know the old one, I guess you being an english native speaker wouldn't have as much trouble as myself.

A lot of people are familiar with George Orwell and his 1984 type vision of the future, but compare it to Aldous Huxley and his views. It's quite terrifyingly true, check it out:

I'll put it as a spoiler, as its a really long image.

Very interesting... I'm going to share this on Twitter and Facebook! :2cool4u: :silly:

Just kidding. I haven't read 1984 though. It was one of the options I had in my High School English class, but I think I chose The Grapes of Wrath instead. I got the general idea of it, however.

At some points, they both got it right ... For example, the truth is concealed in irrelevance, but in other cases it is also kept from us...
This is Mark Allen Hoppus. He likes long walks on the beach. This, this is travis barker. He likes to be read poetry just before sunset. And me, I like to stick small pieces of furniture up my butt.

I spy on my dad while he is taking a shower just like everyone else
Mark: Sometimes when I talk in 3rd person i end up calling tom mark
Tom:Yea than he starts touching me and i think thats masturbation
Some people think were idiots or perverts dont argue were both.
"i think we're gonna be one of those bands thats around forever and even makes records, even if noones buying them and using them for toilet paper...but we'll still make them because we'll be the best fuckin toilet paper anyones ever used...." - Tom Delonge

I typed it before I watched it, but still, it is better than I expected :)

I'm choosing a new phone. Can't decide which one to buy. Could someone help me? Samsung Galaxy S vs. HTC Desire S vs. HTC Desire HD. thanks.

I've heard Galaxy S has some issues with GPS which is kinda important to me.
