It's not, it's just as easy to communicate on Skype or QIP as it is on facebook or other softwares and websites.

People are obsessed with facebook, some of them are capable of looking at pictures of their friends's adventures for hours, without any purpose or direction they are blindfully wasting hours and hours of their lives on that site and then they tell you:''It's the best way to communicate with other people.''

However, if you like it, keep enjoying it, but do not expect any thought transimssions or sixth sense from it, you will still have to type the letters and create words and sentecnes. ;)
