How to customize Deryck's old Telecaster?

This is what I've heard too. I heard it's mostly only good for punk songs. I tend to like the sound of it. I guess everyone is different.

Are you sure about the Seymour Duncan? I mean, it seems that he always uses the Seymour Duncan. He has also on his current guitar!
About the neck: Yeah I see it's the same. Both are maple necks with rosewood fretboards as you said, but I was talkin about the color. Deryck's one is more brown, the other one is really more darker. I searched on ebay, but all I've found are neck which cost around 300$...

I'm 90% sure it's Seymour Duncan because it's also in his Telecaster Deluxe and he's used both guitars since 2004/2005. Also, you're comparing a stock photo of a guitar to one in a case under different lighting. The color will always differ in that sense.

EDIT: Also, I just wanted to throw in that I probably never would have made my replica if I didn't know it was possible. I remember seeing a picture of a Telecaster Deluxe that was customized like Deryck's with a "Sum 41" sticker on it and nothing else. I think it was on eBay. I didn't know too much about guitars when I first started building mine. I just decided to build one because I was really looking forward to Deryck's signature model until it was finally released and it looked like poo.

i would do "the same thing" if i'd buy a t shirt "heroin killed the radio star", then cut the sleeves and wear a vest with it.

enero -> it wasn't against you or your idea, it was just a point of view concerning this trend of being exactly like your favorite idea... there's nothing wrong with it, i just find it strange.

Hm. I might do that for my Jeremy Kill character for my YouTube channel! Also, I found out Deryck has one of those Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll shirts too. I have the same shirt in black, but I got it before I knew he had one too. FML and the unintentional fanboyosity. I never wear them though.

It's not awful, especially when you wanna play the Sums material. I run it through a Boss ME-50 and and my Marshall, and I get alot of compliments on how it sounds.

Deryck's guitar (Squier signature) is quite mediocre. It's mostly a beginner /intermediate guitar. The stock pickup is not that good and it has an agathis body. Agathis is not that great of wood. You would have to have a very good amp and pedal to make up for it. Also, only having one pickup doesn't give you a lot of range in tones, so it's mostly a pop-punk type of guitar.

Yeah, you can't take them off. One of the X's on mine (on the pickguard) is slightly crooked. Looks stupid, but that's Squier quality for you!

Anyways, I'm not talking about the Squier signature, but I'm talking about the Blacktop tele HH.
Probably I won't take off one pick up.
