I dno. I feel like Sum 41 has kinda been reborn after Chuck. New member & new management & no Greig Nori. And they're doing really good. They're having big shows and also seems like having time of their life. I don't think they'd break up but they're gonna take a long break at some point for sure. Deryck probably will end up doing some sort of solo stuff at that point.

Do any of them have kids? I wonder if any of them want a family. They couldn't do anything else big in life while they're doing music, not that that's a bad thing if that's all they want to do, but they couldn't have families doing what they do now really..

Although all evidence points to the contrary, SBM does have a kind of 'finale' feel to it. maybe exit song is just making us nostalgic. :suicide:

but i can see if the band continue to do albums, i think that they will do something similar to SBM, but with more punk, and a more refined, controlled sound- SBM did seem a little wild, random and out of control at times. something like much more traditional punk rock, with the dark feeling, agressive riffs and warped sense of humor that we all know and love. i think, seeing as the past 2 albums were based around deryck's experiences with avril - or at least heavily influenced by them - then the next albums will focus on the band as a whole.

SUM 41 SHALL BE BORN AGAIN!
fuck this signature nonsense

So i guess that this really IS just a beginning of new legacy......

I'm not worried about them breaking up (I can't picture that happening)
More worried about them dying.....but they've come THIS far- so they probably wont die anytime soon..

SBM was just so well done that Exit Song really felt like the end....

I'm positive we had a topic just like this when Underclass Hero was released. I don't think they'll be splitting up. They love what they are doing too much right now.

I definitely think they will go for something more light-hearted and traditional after this.

meh, The recording of SBM was one big break.. they all were at home a lot, except for the few weeks they had to be in the studio. Deryck was always busy recording the album but he partied almost everyday, so he had his time off too.

Yeah, the recording of SBM was basically a time off. A very long and laid back recording which they took how much time off they wanted and didn't commit to any date or studio time.. just did it their way, so I doubt they'll be going on a hiatus. I bet they'll tour through all of 2011 and 2012, while Deryck write more stuff, and they might just enter the studio a little bit after they stop touring for SBM around 2012.

Thinking about it, it basically what they did with UH. They stopped touring for UH around August 2008, and in October 2008 they were already preparing for the next album, they were already in the studio demoing stuff for that EP. I think that in November we got our first EP studio update. So I bet they'll do the same after finishing touring for SBM, though question is if the next album recording will also be laid back like this and from the beginning of preparations for the next album in 2012, we only gonna have an album in 2014/2015.

well,Cone is with his girlfriend since highschool, which means they both were made to have a long relationship , and I just can't imagine a relationship like that without a single child ...

even though everything's possible

If recording SBM was a break- I hope they take another break for the next upcoming album. Because the turnout is epic!! But I'm still wondering what the next album's feel will be like...

realistically, if deryck has been focused at all in the past 11 months (unlikely), they could easily have another 6 to 8 new, post-sbm songs. cuz the last ones they recorded as a band were in april, so that's 11 months. hopefully he's at least got 2 to 3 lined up...

I severely doubt it.

Btw, have you listened to the album yet?

I hope (and expect) that they stay together for at least another decade and probably 3~4 albums.
It would just simply be awesome if they'd record 41 albums in their lives :2cool4u:
have a try and test your knowledge:

It’s like sounding really nice, having a good feel, that’s all about the guitar.
That’s what I care about. I’d rather be a better strummer than fuckin' jizz all over the fuckin' fretboard...
