Exit Song is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. Deryck could not have made a better song to close the album.

Why do you find it so sad? I think Crash is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. I don't really feel anything strongly when I listen to Exit Song.. The acoustic guitar is beautiful though, and it is still a good song.

It's not that sad, it's just realistic.. looking forward actually. Best summary of the whole thing is in Holy Image of Lies: " "If this is good bye, forever is just a lie, big enough to make you wanna try."
I mean what do you expect, marrying a teen pop-idol in her/your early/mid 20s... yeah that really sounds like the beginning of a great success story. Relationships come and go, that's life, sometimes they last but most of the time one or the other is getting bored and wants to move on after a while. I know this makes me sound like a huge, jaded dick, but I kind of expected this to happen long before the rumors and was almost happy in a way when it was finally official. It was too perfect to work out at the first try and it even seemed like Deryck was suppressing the same feeling, while saying almost the exact same thing after finishing UH (it was so smooth, it was almost too smooth).
