yeah, no.. it is NOT a ripoff.. When you change beats per minute, you can find hundreds and hundreds of songs that sound similar... When I play Pieces and then Scientist, I really don't hear much similar there..

Since Pieces was #1 on my list, figured I should make a comment. Its my favorite for the lyrics bar none. I like the Scientist too, mostly cause it reminded me of Pieces (I first heard it when Av covered it). Musically, the rhythm is similar with a lot of difference too, but lyrically Pieces blows Scientist out of the water. IMO of course

(in nor particular order)

1. Pieces
It was like the first slower song by The Sums. Well, except for Slipping Away of course, but it had such a great impact on me. I still love it.

2. The Hell Song
Reminds me of the good old days, when everyone was awaiting Sum 41's new record, music video, interview,... At least where I live. It's been a while now.

3. Billy Spleen
Song full of attitude, with some major balls. Hard, fast, aggresive, short; I love it.

4. Fat Lip
My moment of falling in love with Sum 41.

5. In Too Deep
A confirmation of my love.

6. Ride The Chariot
I don't know... Weird to have in my list, but it's a cool instrumental, very melodic song.

7. Walking Disaster
Such an amazing song. Musical wise, lyrical wise, the build-up of that song is amazing.

8. Best of Me
Well, mostly because of personal reasons, but besides that I really really really like it.

9. Skumfuk
Might disappear within a few months, but for now it has been really a symbol for the long waiting for SBM.

10. Thanks For Nothing
Just a pretty cool song.

11. No Reason
Balls rule... Amazing riffs, fantastic song.

12.Open Your Eyes
An underrated song, imo. I love love love it.

13. Welcome To Hell
Great attitude in this one. Fast and heavy.

14. Noots
It's a shame that didn't make one of the albums. I think it's a pretty cool song.

15. Jessica Kill
Well, the whole idea excites me! Reeally dying for some new music right now!

Its hard for me to separate songs completely as some I love exactly the same, so I put them into groups.

1. The Hell Song - Personally think this is the best chorus by Sum 41, not like in a lyrical way but by how powerful it sounds.

2. Over My Head - Amazing chorus, again powerful
Still Waiting - Verse riff is awesome, right when the bridge starts is what makes it one of my favorites.
No Brains - Probably the best bridge of any of Sum 41's songs. Amazing solo. Amazing chorus.
Mr. Amsterdam - Intro riff is one of my favorites. Verse and end instrumentals are amazing.
88 - Best song on Chuck hands down. Heavy, cool intro, without the solo part thing this song would still be awesome.

- in no order

3. We're All to Blame - Straight heavy, does the slow part count as the chorus?..because its good.
The Bitter End - I hardly consider this a Metallica ripoff, just the one riff right after the solo.
I'm Not the One - I personally think they should have ended this song with the full bridge again, kind of like No Brains. Would be cool if it came to a halt right after "measurable bliss".
Welcome to Hell
In Too Deep
Thanks for Nothing
Hyper-Insomnia
My Direction
All Messed Up

- in no order

Everyone knows Scotty Doesn't Know is by Sum 41 - it's about Avril.

Seriously though, why didn't I elaborate on my song choices? It's too late now :confusion:

Agreed about the Pieces lyrics, they piss all over the Scientist from an awful height.

I like No Brains alot because of the octaves in the chorus, that's one of the songs by them that have two guitar tracks in the chorus.
