Mastering can take months, actually. But it could also just take a few days, nobody knows..Hentaiman wrote:thought mastering is something that shouldn't take mor than a week

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
I remember the new OpMD took like one day to master or so haha. Someone opened a thread in the OpMD forum I remember that they posted on their twitter that the album goes into master, then the next day there was a twit about that the album is now mixed & mastered and ready haha.

Source? May be they're just not happy with the final mix yet or still have to approve of it before it's being sent out for mastering.shadowred3 wrote:its already mixed and mastered and it could be put now

Re: The Sum 41 New Album Thread!
Yeah, pretty impressive activity going on here.
Btw. read through the first page again and need to clear something up:
Alright move along folks, nothing to see here.

No, necessarily better. The carpet is there to separate most of the bassdrum sound from the rest of the room, which is needed, because the space in a recording studio is very limited unlike on stage where the bassdrum has lots of room in front of it, so the energy can spread and be absorbed easily. Since you want to put a microphone inside the bassdrum to get a good kicking sound, you need a hole in the front of the bassdrum, where a lot of the sound pressure can escape and resonate with everything else in the room and the room itself, which then results in more noise/reverb on all the other recorded signals. Of course the carpet can't entirely prevent that, but you still want the cleanest possible recording for every part of the drums and it does help.Nic wrote:Not necessarily better...but maybe just different?samueeL wrote:Yeah, the carpet is obviously there for better sound.

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
I think we just wait patiently (lol?) until February when the label decides to put the album out. I don't think anything big is going to happen until then really.
On the bright side, the 12-minute song could be released anytime between now and late October before Sum 41 go on the Eastpak Antidote Tour. They've been rehearsing the new songs at sound-checks, so it's likely they'll be able to play a couple new ones on this tour.
I'm wondering if the new material they decide to play on Eastpak is the 12-minute song? I think it would make sense since they plan to release the song as a free download "soon". That way people hear the studio version and then know what to expect when they go to the shows. Sum 41 is also headlining that tour, right? Would that give them more time on stage to be able to fit in the 12-minute song into their setlist?

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
Well, Tomi sad that Tom has told him that they probably gonna play Scumfuck since its already "leaked" and its already so popular on the web, so it makes sense, then again its just a 2 minute songs, we need some more real new stuff from the album, and I think Tomi also said that Tom has said they plan to play either Screaming Bloody Murder (the song) or Blood In My Eyes live on this tour, so I hope one of these (probably what wound end up being chosen as the single) will be played on the tour, along with the 12 minute song which we still haven't heard nothing about since last time they talked about it around July..

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
By the way I know this is off topic but I've met Care Failure (Die Mannequin's singer) at the show that my friend Frank was opening for them (In St-Hyacinthe, QC), and she's so friendly you have no idea... She told me that she was so fucking hammered drinking Jack Daniel on Stage when she opened for Sum 41 back in march 2008 at the Metropolis (MTL).
Care has sold me in personn one of their t-shirts with a $10 off special price for me.

Most likely is, but in times like this you can never tell

I was browsing the studio video again and the song at 55 sec in this one sounds like one I heard in July

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
Well that is a cool riff, I could totally image this riff being the main riff of a song called SBM. Its all heavy and aggressive!

I have the same feeling too.. Tom wrote SBM and recorded some guitar parts for it and that riff isn't something that I would relate to something that Deryck wroteHentaiman wrote:Well that is a cool riff, I could totally image this riff being the main riff of a song called SBM. Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
It was my favourite riff from the studio updates, I really hope this one turns into single-material!

I liked the one in the bass updates better, but it's still one of my favorites. But did I miss something? Tom wrote SBM.. errm what?

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
Well Tom wrote it and then Deryck made his own version of it. And the solo of the song is collaboration of both Tom's and D's ideas. So let's just say Tom co-wrote it. Demo title of the song was Panic Attack.Simon wrote:I liked the one in the bass updates better, but it's still one of my favorites. But did I miss something? Tom wrote SBM.. errm what?
