i miss the whole Punk/Metal Style of Chuck.... and here's a question... wonder what UH would have sounded like if Dave hadn't left the band... WAY different.......

it would be so awesome if we were given a double cd with #1 Underclass Hero, and #2 The Dave Never Ends

I already said it is a great album. It is a lot better than Chuck (which I barely listen to anymore) and I simply expected too much. I am glad they made this album and now that I think about it, 3 of my 10 alltime favorite songs are from Underclass Hero, 3 from All Killer No Filler, 3 from Does This Look Infected? and 1 from Half Hour of Power so, it is really not a let-down. I am just frustrated because of the bonus DVD.

Underclass hero is a great album, and will definitely go down as one of sum's greatest albums, but there's one thing in my mind that sets this one apart from others; diversity, and thats what "critics" like and want. But infortunaley, it may have had a little too much for some fans liking. Im not saying this was a critcs' album, but it kinda seems like it.

I agree wiht what ur saying about the added instraments, thats a good point,
for example I prefer the live 'so long goodbye'
to the cd version, because of the strings or whatever it is thats added
I still think its a great album
dont know if its the best though
but ya, thats just my opinion there

the album isnt that bad, but also do have to agree that it is 'a bit of a letdown' quote unquote title.

i mean, c'mon, some songs DO actually sound like rips off of other songs. NO DOUBT take a look at yourself (b-side) does indeed sound like WTTBP, all of you know that. Underclass Hero really does sound like a Fat Lip remix. im not saying the songs are shit or anything, but they sound like rips.. :? i really do like the ENTIRE album, from beginning to end, but as i said before, they all sound good cuz they are derived from other songs.

The beginning does if you ignore the drums. Not the melody but the structure is very similar. Intro, instrumental part, verse, chorus, instrumental part, verse, chorus, bridge, solo(chorus), intro repetition, chorus, instrumental part.

But back to topic: My feeling is that too many songs aren't really Sum 41 songs, they're more like Deryck's solo songs with Steve and Cone playing along. I know he has always been writing all the songs except Pain For Pleasure maybe, but I never had this feeling before. It's not that they're bad songs, quite the opposite they are amazing compositions, but often I feel like I'm not listening to Sum 41, a rockband. All the keyboards, pling plong ring stuff, the strings and effects overkill .. it's weird .. I dunno

Are they going to make another record? I hope so, what else should I look forward to after they're done touring ;)

Actually, at the beginning of the vocals after the fast part begins, it sounds very much like March Of The Dogs but I don't notice that anymore. Who cares anyways if it sounds good? If you'd refuse to listen everything that sounds similar to any other song in the world, you would never be listening to any kind of music again.

I did not assume that, I was also just pointing it out.
Instead of "If you'd refuse to.." I meant "If one would refuse to...", sorry. ;)

i think its their best album, but thats rather becuz i hear dark and serious music. im not so about fun and the whole thing, music is emotinal in my eyes. it means something deeper then just rocking on guitars.
i really like the album and i think its really interesting that sum 41 use the piano. it sounds great!
just my mind.
but when u say on the dvd is just these stuff.i totally agree. why didnt the put the playing live underclass hero on it or something, wasnt there supposted to be a making of?

I'm glad they didn't go back to the popiness of All Killer No Filler.

the only bad things about this album were that the guitars were weak thats why they probably added the extra stuff like the piano and stuff because the solos were just lame they sorta just remind of the way blink 182 did with there last cd except sum 41s better

and the slow songs kinda killed parts of the cd like how do you go from the jester to with me

and king of contradiction to best of me

so long goodbye makes me kinda laugh cause there writing to dave who likes heavy metal

besides that the album is awesome
