To be honest with you I don't know what denomination I am or whatever. Like I said, the church has nothing on you. Faith is faith. And perhaps you've been attending the wrong churches.
I never said that a spiritual connection was a bad thing. I actually stated that it wasn't. What I was mostly talking about are the people who pick and choose parts of the Bible to justify outdated discriminations. Also, I don't think 12 years of religion class has "misguided" me. I'm speaking based off of what I have been taught. Perhaps you learned something different. Organized religion is just something I don't find very preferable. You're absolutely correct; faith is faith. I don't disagree with that. Its just something I don't have anymore.

I'm baptized Roman Catholic, however, I have realized recently that I do not in any way support organized religion anymore. I do believe in God, and if not God, a higher power, because I refuse to believe that everything in the world happened the way it did completely by chance. I believe in the big bang and evolution, but I believe that a higher power played a part in both of them. The only reason that I am a fan of religion is because it gives people hope, brings them together, and gives them a common belief system. I don't look down on atheists, but I think that atheism is a hollow shell of a life, why would you want to live your life thinking that it is the end of everything. At least with any sort of religion you have the prospect of an afterlife, which helps you to not fear death.

I think death is natural part of life but that's true, many people believe in God 'cause they are afraid to die.

I'm not scared to die. I'm a little bit scared of what comes after.

so then that means that you are not afraid to die? What the fuck is the point of life if you just rott in a hole for all eternity? To see who can score the most coke, boats and whores? If that's what's waiting for me, fucking kill me now.

If that's what's waiting for you, then so be it, live your life to the fullest. Live each day as if its your last and that nothing will come after it. Maybe something will, maybe it won't, but enjoy your life while you can.

I'm not afraid to die but yeah it's kinda scary thought that I live here ~70 years and after that there's nothing. But I'm being realistic. Maybe the day I'm dying I get scared, dunno.

Jordan said pretty much my thoughts in his last post.

Actually it seem like most old people aren't scared of death. They have lived long and know that their time is almost up.
