I'm no Nic, but yes. :2cool4u:

When you compare your question to the ones that he answered on Fansite Connection and Sum 41 France, you'll notice the difference.

EDIT: 777 posts :2cool4u:
i havent read the interview on fansite connection and sum41 france but asking questions about his guitars, the new album and vocals again and again is just so boringggg. i really don't think my question is shit.

Don't know about the songs they play now, but the reason they dropped out No Reason was it hurt Deryck's voice too much.

- You wear your guitar pretty low when you play live. How hard was it to play the Metallica songs when you did the Hoodwink festival? I can't seem to play any of their songs properly with my guitar that low.

- Are you going to bust out the mellotron for the next album? Do it.

- When performing live, what song hurts your voice most? Which one is easiest to sing? My guesses are Still Waiting and Pieces respectively.

- How do you come up with solos for songs? I know if the song calls for it, you write one, but some people write shitty solos and some people write sweet-ass, chill solos (The Hell Song). How do you keep from making a solo sound corny?

- Is the Joe Strummer signature guitar any good? I see you used it at the Key Club and in the studio. I'd get one, but I don't know if I want to pay $800 for a guitar that looks beat up! LOL!

- Sometime down the road if you and Avril have a kid, you don't plan on naming him or her something ridiculous like Bronx Mowgli Wentz, do you? Please don't!
who the hell would name a kid mowgli ?

No offense, but if TNS is going to send him only like 15 questions, then majority of the fans want to know the answer to a question other than this.

hey all, lets try to stay clear of questions about the band breaking up, thats not the message you want to send. We're here to support them, not be negative towards what they are passionate about.

Since this interview also counts with questions from the spanish forum, we'll try and send questions from both boards ;)

Use one of my questions, fuckers. Namely the "influences on the new record" one.

And if it makes any difference, I take back the "fuckers". I was hoping it would make me seem tough on the internet!

Hey Derek.

When you come up with songs, what is your theory for creating music? Do you come up with the rhythm first, the riff first or lyrics first? Do you just fiddle around with the guitar, or do you specifically set a time for writing a song.

Thanks, and keep on making some of the best music out there.

Back to questions

Deryck, if you could choose one band that sum 41 would do a split EP , in which you both cover 3 of the other's songs, who would it be and why?

Deryck, how do you know which song structure is best for a certain song? And how do you know when a song is "complete"?

Deryck, would you ever consider doing a cover of 2112 by Rush?
