yea, sounds about right. ive been to venues about lunchtime before and and there's hardly anyone there expect for the bands and people working at the gig, roadies and that. ask the roadies nicely and they might let you help them. me and one of my mates done that and we became roadies for Bowling For Soup and Son Of Dork for an hour. we didn't actually meet BFS but we met all of SOD, though their dicks.
got to a Megadeth gigs a few hours early before too and Dave Mustaine came out and spoke to a few fans.
After a lot of shows, if its not at some crazy big venue with super tight security, you can easily go wait by the buses and catch the bands as they exit/enter the bus.
When the small club tour they just did went to Long Island, Deryck was hanging by the bus talking, signing things and taking pictures with anyone who went up and waited their turn.
Also when the Goon Platoon used to be around, you could get backstage by "winning" a meet and greet with the band.
