Re: New site idea (for all you musicians out there)
^^good name
maybe for beginners [ like me ] have a section that gives links to websites, videos, etc... to help us get better.
for the protection thing, i guess having some kind of "exclusive" areas so that only people who are serious about making music can enter. By serious, i mean people who have given suggestions or proven that they are using the site as intended.

how about.
http://themusicproject.com/
and for the 'stealing songs' complaint, how about this: users are required to release their material with a creative commons share-alike license so anyone can use it as long as they attribute it to the original artist.

Re: New site idea (for all you musicians out there)
wow...great idea.
and as for the stealing thing...it's going to happen no matter what. Serisously...what could to do to me if i herd a riff and took it and made it my own song and didn't post it and became famous and one day you were like "HEY FUCKER THAT WAS MINE!" nothing, really, cause i'd be famous and you wouldn't be. :D
but seriously...i suppose you would just need to know that it's going to happen no matter what. You can do as much as you can to minimize the stealing...but yeah.
and as for the name...how about:
thouplayistforye.com
ithinkyouplay.com
bonersareoverrated.com
themusicthosecrazykidslistento.com
wedontneednostinkintitle.com
musinetgeneration.com (like...music+internet=musinet...or maybe intemusic?)
actually...none of those are really serious :D

Re: New site idea (for all you musicians out there)
i think its a very cool idea.
as for stealing songs, can't we make the new users agree to a terms of service form stating that one may not use another's posted ideas without consent. that would be the easiest. also, that creative commons license works too, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails does that on his website with people making remixes and it seems to work just fine.

Re: New site idea (for all you musicians out there)
did anyone read my post about releasing the music via a creative commons sharalike 3.0???
that would solve any problems.
Anyone could take and use your riff as long as they atribute it to you.
That's how the baby works.
