Metallica @ the O2 (UK)

Post by DJChaos182 »

i went to see Metallica at the O2 Arena on Monday night and it was AMAZING. the setlist was really different, it wasn't the usual "we must play Sandman, nothing else matters and sad but true" setlist, it was really mixed up.

during Seek And Destroy (the last song) they released these inflatable beachball things with Metallica written on them and literally all you could see was loads of people bouncing these things around the arena.

im glad i signed up for the fan club after all because the show was Club members only.

Setlist:
That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
The Thing That Should Not Be
Of Wolf And Man
One
Broken, Beat And Scarred
Cyanide
Frantic
Until It Sleeps
Wherever I May Roam
For Whom The Bell Tolls
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Blackened
- - - - - - - -
Stone Cold Crazy (Queen cover)
Jump In The Fire
Seek and Destroy

they did a queen cover? that just sounds odd. but i think they should have definitely played Enter Sandman.

the queen cover started at the Freddie Mercury Tribute and then Metallica recorded it.

actually Metallica recorded the cover in 1991, it was the B-side to Enter Sandman, then James performed it with Queen (surviving members) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath guitarist) at the Freddie Mercury Tribute.

Wow, weird setlist. Its cool they played so many great songs from the new album, but... I mean, still, Enter Sandman is a fuckin' classic! they should've played Enter Sandman. Sad But True is not as good as Sandman anyway.

But pretty cool setlist I guess, very different. At least they played One. Although if I ever see 'em live, I wish I could hear them playing Die Die My Darling. It would be amazing and I heard they started playing it live again in their recent shows.

Die Die My Darling is great. yeah they've been playing it on and off during the tour, hopefully it'll still be played when the proper Death Magnetic tour starts
