Sum 41 enters studio!

As the newest PledgeMusic update states, Sum 41 has entered the studio!

Like we know from the past albums, the first stage is to record the drums. Deryck and Frank have been recording the drum tracks past week, and there's a video update coming along later this week.

Last update we had about the album process was that there were about 6 songs written. Question is, will they record the songs as they come along (unlike previous times, when they entered the studio with an almost complete album), or has Deryck come up with more songs that we didn't know of?

I guess Deryck and/or the upcoming video update will give us more clues. :glad:

Check out the pictures posted from the studio at PledgeMusic.com!

If you look closely, you can find a new (working) song title to add to the list!

The previously mentioned are:
- Goddamn, I'm Dead Again
- 13 Voices
- Take It To The Grave

The snippets we've got so far:

Mar. 20th 2015

Cool, I'm really digging to hear something from them. I actually had a dream a few months back, where Sum 41 played a new song, a short installment remained in my head and a line Deryck sang: "What if I refuse your sacrifice" It sounded so cool. :devious:

Btw, Cone also posted a couple days ago he was working on 4 new songs' bass part.

Fuckin' A!
I do hope 'Goddamn, I'm dead again' is an actual title.
With any luck it'll a lovely quick recording process, and we'll be rocking out to a new Sums album by Summer 2018! :silly:

1) Where did you find out about Take It To The Grave?
2) Can ANYONE make out what the possible song title is in that one picture?? To me it appears to say "God Shit All" but I'm sure I'm wrong lol

I saw this in pledgemusic yesterday, I really excited after almost five years since the last album !!! All indications are that will be a great album, I hope there are songs like no reason, back where i belong, count your blessings last, blood in my eyes or something cooler like in too deep.
How do you see yourselves?

Yeah, to me it's God Save All as well, but didn't post it 'cause I wasn't sure. :silly:

Take It To The Grave is written by Tom, this album's equivalent to Panic Attack (which was evolved to SBM). So I would be surprised if the title doesn't get changed.

- We will hear our first preview of an almost finished song by this christmas.
- We will get our first full song either leaked or pre-released by february.
- Studio video updates will start to be posted by the end of this month and keep coming at a steady pace until March.

Let's see how close I am :D
Spoiler: show
I'll be far off as fuck.

If I understood it correctly, they have now recorded the drums for the full album. :ohshiz:

I think it would have been nice to hear some drums from the new album instead of Fat lip line, there is much illusion set for this album and Deryck he looks great as 7 years ago

It does seem like we can expect album early 2016, exciting! Depending on label stuff of course. It's super nice to get these updates but I agree, it'd be great to get some samples from the actual music of the new album. We really don't have proper idea yet how it's gonna sound, guess we just need to wait a bit more :)

Cone did a short interview with a local radio station. It's about remembering Nick, but at the very end he gives a summary about what's going on with the band.

They are trying to get the album mixed already in December, while aiming for the release date in June (late Spring / early Summer).

I don't know if there's a deadline to use the funds? I remember seeing a date of March 31st 2016 somewhere, but I'm not sure if it's a deadline or an estimation.

Anyways, I would prefer for them to take their time rather than rush it for the deadline. Afterall, SBM took years to write, and to me it's their best album to date. And I would prefer them not to rush it while using our money. :silly:
