Well, this doesn't come as a big surprise to me. Tomi already hinted about it a few weeks a go.

Great performanc after being 'gone' for a while though. Dave brought some great vibes up there. Such a shame the audience was a bit flat, you know what I mean?

Oh, and D, thumbs up to Frank as well. I think he nailed it and incorporated his own personality into the performance.

as deryck has problems with his back, he could just sing without playing guitar in the future, just like he always does when they perform mr. amsterdam. tom could play rhythm-guitar and dave lead-guitar. who knows. keeping three guitars would be nice too :2cool4u:

Holy shit that was unexpected!

I don't think they'd kick Tom out unless he expressed that he wanted to focus on GOB again perhaps? Maybe they'll just have more guitarists or Deryck will focus on vocals more? It would be amazing to have Dave back, now we just need Steve back!

So amazing!!! :glad: :glad:

I think it would be sick to have 3 guitars on stage, and Deryck can switch a bit.

Something like this haha...

Wow. That performance was top-notch! Really cool and I loved Derycks hip-hop part with DMC... AND OF COURSE BROWNSOUND.
Then about having 3 guitarists.. Well Bad Religion did it when Gurewitz returned and after that happened they've done nothing but superb records and put up on some excellent shows. I don't see that being a problem at all, just helps to bring some more oomph to the table. Though as for now we cant be sure ofc if Dave is back or not =)

The kids at the show don't even understand how big this is.

I just can't understand it happened. I'm so freaking happy right now!
Sometimes I can't help think that I have you right behind me all this time

Also DMC who? Should've been Nicki Minaj or something for the kids to know haha.

Regardless if it was just for the one show or for the new album I was supper happy. I almost couldn't believe it. He definitely brings a positive energy that helps me get out of the stupor that Steve leaving has left me in. It's nice to see them reconcile again. My heart is very happy.

I think the only reason the crowd sounds so dead is because the sound is being pulled directly from the live mix. The crowd looked pumped every time the camera panned out to them.

Here's another nostalgic shot of Dave and Deryck playing: https://instagram.com/p/5eESkxI0DR/

I wonder how the recording process is going to go. I imagine more than half of the work is done and maybe there's room left for Dave to have input into some of the remaining songs? It would be nice to have those incredible solos again like The Bitter End.

As for the live shows, I wonder if Tom will make the transition back to Gob full-time once the Sum 41 album is complete. Either that or he continues to play guitar with the band and Deryck is more free to move and sing around. Besides Dave's return during In Too Deep and segway into Fat Lip, the DMC performance where Deryck and DMC are rapping looked like it was a fun time.

To be honest, when Stevo left and Deryck almost died I figured it was the end for Sum 41. In fact, I thought it was the end when Stevo left because it was the last thing I expected to happen, but with Dave coming back and Deryck's restored energy I have more hope for the band than ever before. Plus that riff from the first update is such a fresh piece of music from the band. If the next album bleeds of emotion like Screaming Bloody Murder, and has that feeling of "songs to just rock out to" that Does This Look Infected has, then I will be a happy boy.

Sorry for rambling.

Couldn't agree more Jeremy, but I hope Tom stays anyway. There is no info about it so I think (hope) him leaving is not an issue. I mean, I'm happy Dave's back, but for me Sum 41 without Tom wouldn't be the same anymore. After losing Stevo, let's not lose anyone else. :winkwink:

:O is this a real life? wow I can't even describe feelings that are going through me, I feel like 16 year old again. This is amazing, I don't know what better thing could happen, return of Stevo would be the only thing to make it perfect, haha. But yeah, this is incredibly good news! Wonder how the recording will go, and how will new songs sound, if there will be one extra gutarist.
Bright future finally for skumfuks!

THIS

I've almost cried when I saw Dave and I can't tell how happy I'm know since he confirmed that he is back. This is the best fucking thing happened with Sum 41 since Dave left.
