New album already in 2013?

Post by TomiT14 »

Way too early to say, but that's what Deryck was hoping for when he gave this great interview for Music Express in February. Check it out!

http://themusicexpress.ca/no-rest-for-t ... ed-sum-41/
“I don’t consider myself a punk, and I never really cared if we were called punk or not. I just don’t care what anyone thinks, so I guess that mindset makes me ‘punk.’ To me, punk rock is about doing whatever the f*** you want, and that’s all I have ever done,”

YEAH! I just read it just this moment.
That's interesting, does that mean late 2013 +3-4 years or something? I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!

NO FUCKING WAY !!!! :ohshiz:

but this does sound pretty damn promising :
"I’d like to keep it heavier and darker like that one(SBM), but I would also like to go bigger and different and add some new instruments."

How awesome this would be?

Then again, SBM was supposed to come out originally in March/April 2009, so I guess we'll find it out later in the year.

ummm I just hope these "new instruments" won't be electronic instruments, I don't want them to keep up with all those bands that are adding those "beats" in rock sounds. But I don't think I need to worry that Sums would want to be "trendy" haha they'll just do it the way they like it.

Deryck said in a previous interview that he hated the idea of mixing electronic and organic sounds.

Don't get your hopes up just yet, I think it's just a typo, at the end of the interview it also says 'Sum 42'.
Besides, it'll be close to may before he can even really start writing, that leaves them 7 months to write, record, mix, master and release the album and they don't even have a label yet.

I saw that as well, but in his tweet he also says 2013.

Maybe such a quick album release would be possible because they don't have a label. Seemed like Island kinda slowed them down.

A 2013-release is nearly impossible, since D only started writing 'some riffs', not entire songs.

Like Mitchell said, it takes several months to get a record done.

Remember the EP from early/spring 2009?

I don't mind waiting for another year or two. Of course, it'd be nice if it came out this year, but I'm 99,9% sure it won't.

I, for one, enjoyed the time we spent waiting for SBM. It was always so exciting to read Deryck's blog on how the writing process has gone. Even though it took longer than expected, it was still a fun era.

Just like Gregor said, it has now begun again - the waiting process for the new album. I'm going to enjoy it at least as much as the last time, even if you decide to shoot my dreams right from the start. :glad:

Is this the 'New Album' thread, or is it too soon?

He has written the first song from the album, though. Which is a start.

Your actually an idiot. This whole thread is ridiculous.

Let me also point out- that even if they somehow did manage to write/record/produce an entire album in less than 9 months (Which most certainly WON'T happen) it'll probably suck hard donkey balls. You guys want an "Uno Dos Tre" of Sums? Where they just spit out simplistic repetitive melodies that lack any time or effort? I know I don't. This is Sum 41. They're not going to half-ass an album just to settle our needy little buttholes for a new record. These guys are hard workers when it comes to their music. Clearly- Deryck must have been drunk, or on something else because his statements are so far-fetched and ridiculous that it's actually unbelievable. And the fact that you guys actually believe and trust that this can happen actually makes me lose faith in the Sum 41 community.

C'mon guys, you act like you don't know how this band works!

OH MY GOD MITCH. BOO YOU!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! You really don't know enough about this band to be a mod here. I'm not even talking about the speed of Sums album creation. I just mean in general. You should just stop trolling me all day. I don't care if your a mod or not- you're extremely cruel to me. So- STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP.

What's with all the negativity?

It seems that the most of you ignore the fact that THERE'S GOING TO BE A NEW FUCKING ALBUM. Instead you're looking for the day you can say "I told you so". Party pooper much?

I'm not saying that the end of 2013 is the most realistic estimation ever. But it's an estimation! And very optimistic one, which means Deryck is really optimistic about the stuff he has written. Isn't THAT exciting?

As a Sum 41 fan, it should be no biggie to ignore the timetables by now. Would you get more excited if they announced that the new album will come out at the end of 2015 instead?

I'm not saying you should blindly trust that the end of 2013 is the definite release date. I'm saying don't make so big of a deal out of it. Concentrate on the positives, WE'RE GETTING AN ALBUM! GET EXCITED!
