The reason I want to move abroad...

Post by Gregorovich »

Generation F*cked

A very interesting article - I haven't had time to read other coverage of this research but the statistics seem fairly canny to me. It is entirely true that a massive percentage of urban Brits are subject to miserably poor parenting and poverty. I consider myself lucky to be brought up on a small northern island by a middle-class mother before moving to the city for a private education. I have little sympathy for the parents of those particular youths affected in both America & Britain is all I can say.
fuck this signature nonsense

I dunno how it's like in the anglo world, but I guess it's not much different.
In my humble opinion, a slap at the right time solves most future problems.
Kids these days do whatever they want, and their parents don't give a fuck about their kids.
They lack authority, they don't respect their parents or their teachers, maybe it's cos I went to a catholic school but to me it's unthinkable to call a teacher by his/her name.
As for the underage drinking, my grandpa was the first one who offered me a beer when I was like 6, I didn't like it back then though. I dunno how to explain it , but it's "normal" to us, but drunk 13 year olds , that's another story, a sad one.

I remember if I mis-behaved I would get slapped. It stopped me misbehaving though. My mother was good to me and only punished me when I did something wrong which was quite often because I was a nightmare child but I grew up and I'm a nice enough guy.

the problem is that now, if you slap your kid in public you're seen as some kind of brutal monster , wtf?

Yeah some parts really suck, but there are some nice places too! When I was in UK, it seemed that a few people were poor, I went to uni there, so maybe the people you're talkin about stop after college, that would explain why I didn't see a lot of them.

The people in question probably don't go to college, they stop after year 11 (16 years old)
