Out of nowhere, the third single is being released already after only a week since A Death In The Family came out. :ohshiz:

Never There is available on Spotify in the Philippines. There are other ways to get to it as well :winkwink:

I had some spare time so I worked out the lyrics
Spoiler: show
Do you think about me
Cause I don’t have any doubts
You must
In this life
Even though you’re never there
I didn’t feel you disappear from sight
You did it well

And now you and I share the same life missing out
And so the story goes
That we’re left
And stuck with a broken house

I know that if I
I had the chance
Well, I’d let you know
That I understand
I’ve let you go

I don’t need you by my side
I think by now I’m doing fine, myself
On my own

And I feel you
Time to time
Like you’re sending out a sign
I can tell
You’re not alone

Because you and I share the same life missing out
And so the story goes
That we’re left
And stuck with a broken house

I know that if the
The chance appears
Well, I’d have no fears
We both share pain
We feel the same

And now you and I share the same life missing out
And so the story goes
That we’re left
And stuck with a broken house

I know that if I
I had the chance
Well, I’d let you know
That I understand
I’ve let you go

You and I share the same life missing out
And so the story goes
That we’re left
And stuck with a broken house

I know that if the
The chance appears
I’d have no fears
We both share pain
We feel the same

Every song released of this album is amazing! That solo with strings amazing! And I can't wait more for this album now.

3rd time listening.

I'm still fistpumping empty air.

Love it so much.

Hope this is the last song that's released before the album drops though.

First of all, how dare they unexpectedly release one of my most anticipated songs the day of my show?!
I've had the song on repeat for an hour, it's beautiful :balling: I'm glad Deryck addressed this topic again, over a decade later

Class song, like a sort of Dear Father v2.

Also I like the bit at the end that leads in to Eat You Alive, reminds me of how Some Say turns into Bitter End so very high hopes for that one too.

Enjoying the song more with each listen. Didn't love it as much as the prior two songs, but it's still really strong.

This album is shaping up really well.

Really nice heartfelt and sincere-sounding song. I enjoy it much more than Dear Father. Not sure what the marketing strategy is behind releasing two singles almost in tandem, but whatever, I'll take it haha. I wonder if it was planned? The single artwork doesn't match the others, but that theme of the grim reaper and skulls doesn't really fit the song anyway.

In terms of slow songs, it's probably one of my favourites.

I'm starting to think the timing of the release is connected to father's day.

It's a pretty good track, my only problem with it is the solo is a similar slowed down version of the War solo? It's strange how a third song was released only a week after the second single, I'm not complaining but I now wish the album had more than 10 tracks so there'd be more new ones to hear. I wish I had resisted listening to the People Vs... live vids.

I think its their first single with a piano intro/piano being more prevalent in the song? Also is it the first time they've had 3 singles before the album release?

This time I couldnt resist for an official announcement, I have to say that this is one of those songs that when you listen to it you feel completely empty inside. It is one of the most emotional songs that I've heard in years.
Congrats to the whole band and especially to Deryck.
I think that this song would become a classic if it had the name Elton John, Billy Joel or Eric Clapton
Really good job

I really like it, finally a song with an emotional, strong lyrics on this album (the others are so plain, Deryck himself said he hates writing lyrics and that's the last thing he does - sadly, it really shows on the other singles). It has a good melody, a simple, but good building up, beautiful message - I liked it instantly.

I agree with you on the lyrics. I don't like the lyrics of Out For Blood, it doesn't have a strong enough chorus/has similar lyrics we've heard before in other songs by Deryck. I think A Death In the Family is better lyrically and I actually prefer that song. I don't like the titles of those songs either, for me Out For Blood should've been called Hell to Pay and A Death In the Family had nothing to do with the lyrics of the song, maybe it should've been called Your Lies or something. I like Never There but I'm also beginning to think that the slower song released should've been Catching Fire. It's been highlighted in interviews as one of the hardest hitting emotional songs and one of the best on the album, particularly the subject of the song would've been something new to hear from Deryck

This is a far superior Dear Father. I never liked that song to be honest but this is a great song.
Love it.

If you look closely you can see Deryck and Ari sitting in the back of the diner at 1:25.

It also looks like Deryck is standing around the corner about 10 seconds in.

I think this is the best Sum 41 ballad so far. Wish the album would release already!

I love the video, even though it doesn't have the rest of the band in it just feels right that it's only Deryck because of how personal the song is. It's a simple story but it's filmed and told very well. I always wanted Deryck to do another song addressing his upbringing and the video sort of recreates it so well it's actually quite an emotional watch.
