In Need for an Amp

Post by UltraKolby »

Well I need a good amp that is afordable.
Right now, i have a Line 6 Spider IV 15 amp that my dad got for about $100. Its okay, but i kinda dont like the sound it has. My guitar is a Fender Stratocaster and i wanna know what amp would be good for that guitar that is afordable. I'm sorry if you don't understand, i don't know a lot about guitars.

Please and thank you!!

It really matters what kind of music do you want to play. And how much you want/can spend.
If it must be cheap, try to find some used ones, for example an used Fender FM212. It's a good amp, for little money, and loud enough to play in a band, too.
And stay away from built-in DSP effects...
Got a no-string guitar, got a SUNN Beta head, I'm a rock and roll star,
I ain't no musician, some things are stranger than fishin'!

I kinda want a new one. I wanna play rock songs, like sum 41, zebrahead, green day, blink 182, etc

i'm not sure about the marshall MG series, i've only heard bad things about them, but there may be other marshalls around that price but i haven't looked into marshall too much, i prefer Vox mostly. unless i had like 5k then it'd be mesa or marshall all the way

$500 isn't much of a budget but you aren't playing gigs or anything right? so i guess it's not too bad. i haven't had to buy an amp around that price range.

you could always just get a valve powered distortion pedal which will cost less than $500 and you get a proper valve amp sound. that'd be really nice. you can tune it in to get the right sound as well

something i've learned is that the way things are priced these days, you have to spend more money to get something of better quality. if i could live in the 60's with the amount of money i have now, fuck i'd be happy. also, i'd rip off nickelback before nickelback could.

Yeah, I've heard the Marshall MG series are shit. I can't remember the name, I think it's a Marshall Haze, but it's a tube combo amp, either 30 or 50 watts and it was about $500. I wanted to get it, but I wasn't sure how good it was, I just read about it in MusiciansFriend.com
