what should I do?

So today I overheard (kid 1) talking to (kid 2), and they were talking about my best friend. Kid 2 says "I thought you two were best friends", kid 1 says "no way, I hate him". But my best friend thinks that kid 1 is his friend, and kid 1 pretends that he is. I want to tell my friend, because I don't want him to keep being used, but I don't want to hurt him, he's my best friend and I don't want to be the one to tell him about it, but he needs to find out.
What would you do if you were in my shoes?

....now I understand situations like this on tv shows

Yeah it really does sound like tv show, but I think you should just tell your friend what you heard.

Why would anyone pretend to be a friend, I don't really see how that works, however if you and your friend are 'best friends' and probably got others to hang out with, why would you even care about those kids then? just tell him you think they are assholes or something (: ignore it, care about something else.

Atleast thats what I would've done, I'm not you though (;
