Best Before 1984

“Join The Church”

(There aren’t any angels where you’re going… (What?!?))

Join the church of love and hate
We never exaggerate
Our loving, caring, hateful, and vengeful savior
Will damn you to hell for an eternity
So don’t you dare try to disagree

We’ve got a creator
A dictator
Who’s much greater
Than you could ever hope to be

Join the church of censorship
Help us rid the world of any evil grips
Destroy the many people who oppose us
Rid the world of bad language
Help us burn the final bridge

We’ve got a creator
A dictator
Who’s much greater
Than you could ever hope to be

Join the church of faith fanatics
We’re all extremely systematic
Getting rid of those who have the slightest of doubts
Making the world a better place
We’re pretty far ahead in this religious race

We’ve got a creator
A dictator
Who’s much greater
Than you could ever hope to be

“The Voices of a Generation”

We are the voices of the new America
Whispering “somebody save us”

We’re all guilty of not taking action
Silently crying for help
When we’re the leaders of this generation
Allowing our world to go straight to hell

Protesting won’t get you anywhere today
You can’t honestly sit and pray

We’re all guilty of not taking action
Silently crying for help
When we’re the leaders of this generation
Allowing our world to go straight to hell

We’ll never get anywhere if we just sit back
We’ll only find the answers in ourselves
With everybody else

I’m not one to speak for anybody else
But I see the world around me and I just can’t help it

We’re all guilty of not taking action
Silently crying for help
When we’re the leaders of this generation
Allowing our world to go straight to hell

“Lost Cause”

I’m going straight to hell
Well the free spirits dwell
With nothing but bad luck to spare
Fire everywhere

Submission to confession
No ambition to keep going
A lot of devastation and frustration
In a lost generation

Questioning the importance of my life
With nothing to show but the blood on my knife
Watching the city die
Asking myself “why?”

Submission to confession
No ambition to keep going
A lot of devastation and frustration
In a lost generation

Is individualism truly unacceptable
Are the youth that susceptible
No light to be seen in the near future
But that’s nothing I can assure

Submission to confession
No ambition to keep going
A lot of devastation and frustration
In a lost generation

“Crazy”

I see you walking down the street
I get excited when we meet

She sees me staring
I see what she’s wearing
She notices me
Noticing her
And it couldn’t be more awkward

She sees me walking down the street
She keeps avoiding me

She sees me staring
I see what she’s wearing
She notices me
Noticing her
And it couldn’t be more awkward

For you I’d act normal
I wouldn’t be so crazy

She sees me staring
I see what she’s wearing
She notices me
Noticing her
And it couldn’t be more awkward

I’ll never look back
When I get off track

She sees me staring
I see what she’s wearing
She notices me
Noticing her
And it couldn’t be more awkward

Here's one I wrote last night.

“Heartbroken”

I’m just a pretender
Pretending to be okay
When my heart’s been broken
I wish it would all go away
I wish she would realize
How much she meant to me
Or that she could see
I haven’t given up my feelings quite yet

I know that she doesn’t want me anymore
Oh won’t you love me once me
Leaving me behind for somebody
I’m so heartbroken by the one that made me happy
It’s a deeply sick feeling inside of me
That makes me wish we could be together anyway

I’m just a loser
Losing the love of my life
When all I can think of at night
Is images of her and our conversations
Short and to the point
Long and carrying on
Hours I’d spend
Just saying I love you every now and then

I know that she doesn’t want me anymore
Oh won’t you love me once me
Leaving me behind for somebody
I’m so heartbroken by the one that made me happy
It’s a deeply sick feeling inside of me
That makes me wish we could be together anyway

I’m not a winner
Winning the game I tried to play
Failing at winning her heart back
All it takes is time
These things leave me feeling empty
Waiting for her to come back
When deep down I know it’s over forever
And I know that I miss her

I know that she doesn’t want me anymore
Oh won’t you love me once me
Leaving me behind for somebody
I’m so heartbroken by the one that made me happy
It’s a deeply sick feeling inside of me
That makes me wish we could be together anyway

“The Lost”

We are the lost souls (The lost souls)
Helplessly devoted to a life in maze (We are the lost)
Spending our days trying to find a way (To find a way)
The numbers grow to no avail (We are the lost)
And we’ll struggle all along the way (No reason)
With a dead-end life and a deadened cause (We are the lost)

We’re trapped in the troubled times
With no authority figure to lead the way
We’re equally damned
We don’t know how to find the light
We’re not even sure if it’s there
We are the lost

Hope’s dried up like the seas (Like the seas)
With no sign of an escape (We are the lost)
Immense efforts to travel far (To travel far)
More and more join the efforts (We are the lost)
And the cost is more than we can bare (No reason)
With no results to our long-lived endless journey (We are the lost)

We’re trapped in the troubled times
With no authority figure to lead the way
We’re equally damned
We don’t know how to find the light
We’re not even sure if it’s there
We are the lost

“The Lost II”

The years fly by (Fly by)
Losing eternal time (Losing time)
Wasting away in this prison, in this cage (Rot away)

We are the lost (We are the lost, we are the lost, and now we’re gone)

Gone are the days that have passed
Erased from our memories is the past
All we know is that we’re lost
Sailing on at a deadly cost
Spreading poison in our system
Ruins of the unknown
Sinking in the everlasting darkness

There’s no crucifixion (Crucifixion)
In our story of fiction (Story of fiction)
With no known reason for our affliction (Our afflictions)

We are the lost (We are the lost, we are the lost, and now we’re gone)

Gone are the days that have passed
Erased from our memories is the past
All we know is that we’re lost
Sailing on at a deadly cost
Spreading poison in our system
Ruins of the unknown
Sinking in the everlasting darkness

“The Lost III”

(I am the lost, we are the lost, you are the lost, we are the lost, we‘ve lost the way)

A shadow of my former self
Now back to how I was before
Attempts to find another way
Freedom to sit through the trials
Walking on and on for miles
Entering what we once knew
Finding out I’m really through

Could it be that we’ve found the way
To salvation without disarray
The lost now found
Or are we simply delusional
Coming to false conclusions on our own
Slowly picked off one by one
Believing we’ve gotten away

This state of confusion is my home
I realize it now that I’m alone
Clearing my mind for the first time
Seeing reason beyond rhyme
Watching myself leave the mess behind
All the wonderful people that I met
Still searching for the answers

Could it be that we’ve found the way
To salvation without disarray
The lost now found
Or are we simply delusional
Coming to false conclusions on our own
Slowly picked off one by one
Believing we’ve gotten away

(Lost, lost, found, found, falling, fading, dying out)

“Climb To The Top”

I’m climbing to the top
And I’m falling back down
I’m constantly brought back to solid ground
Instead of flying to the safety of success
Blood, sweat, pain, and tears
Never truly disappear
They never go away

I’m trying to reach that paradise
A heaven of sorts
Perfection is an imperfection
Because nothing can be perfect
Problems that dwell inside of me
Crying to be let free
Watching life unfold even more each day
Wondering whether or not it’s meant to be this way

I’m falling to the bottom again
Knowing that I’ll never know when
I’ll be taken away from this place I call home
Show me the light and show me the way
The sun sets each and every day
The moonlight shines down on you
And I want to know my love is true

I’m trying to reach that paradise
A heaven of sorts
Perfection is an imperfection
Because nothing can be perfect
Problems that dwell inside of me
Crying to be let free
Watching life unfold even more each day
Wondering whether or not it’s meant to be this way

Love quickly leaves me empty
Reaching the top means nothing
Because the one I want rejects me
As if I mean nothing to her anyway
Pain please go away
I’m climbing that mountain every day
Trying to keep my faith

I’m trying to reach that paradise
A heaven of sorts
Perfection is an imperfection
Because nothing can be perfect
Problems that dwell inside of me
Crying to be let free
Watching life unfold even more each day
Wondering whether or not it’s meant to be this way
