Is the new guitarist Tom from GOB? Am I Wrong?

I was lucky enough to see them live and really close at a taping for a tv show that will air august 4 on musiqueplus in montreal Quebec. I swear, the new guitarist is tom from gob. I was surrounded by 14 year olds, so i don't think they knew who he was, but i swear that its him.

Can anybody confirm this?

I never trust Wikipedia but, according to whoever edited the Tom Thacker page, it is the guy from GOB.

Considering Sum 41 toured with GOB in 2001, they did say they knew this guitarist from a while back and they're good friends with him, there is a great chance...

Brown Tom = Tom Thacker

You mean the new guitarist for tour, doesn't it?

Yes. The new touring guitarist is Tom Thacker from Gob. It's apparently especially obvious if you see him in person, but if you compare pictures you will find it's the same person. This new knowledge supports the statement that Tom is older than the members of Sum 41. He's 29 (born in 1978), making him 2 years older than Deryck and Cone and 3 years older than Steve. I'm actually not really a fan of Gob, I just did a bit of research after I found out who he was. Haha.

(I'm not sure why he auditioned to tour with Sum 41 considering Gob has a new album coming out soon, though)

its awsome that he is, but i don't think he'll be staying too long cause its true, gob is releasing something new and they even have a show july 1st in edmonton. I'm trying to find the new stuff that was played over a radio station with Theo but i can't find them. The new single is called 'We're All Dying'.

Im Sorry. i Don't Like Him...I dont know him as a person, but i just cant accept Dave leaving. I know its not Toms fault or anything but for that reason im not enjoying him...oh and his hair sucks.

Gob is one of those canadian pop-punk bands who opened the door for bands like sum 41. Sure, its not the same without dave, but he does get the job done. With GOB's new release coming soon, i don't think its a permanent gig anyway. Even if you don't like him as a person because he 'replaced' Dave or has bad hair, you still have to acknowledge what GOB has done for not only sum 41 but for most canadian pop-punk bands. I give him props for that, and also for taking a gig that alot of ppl won't know him or his band and will most likely be hated for taking Dave's position.

yes he is for sure Tom from GOB. recently sum 41 had a private show in toronto and i got tickets and i was front row center and deryck almost exactly sed:
"we are going to play a song from our good friend Tom here, its from a band he used to be in"
and then he started with a guitar intro and they played a GOB song called Soda, and its one of my favorite songs. no one in the crowd knew the workds except me and it was pretty sweet cause he kept looking at me when playing it :P

heres one of the many pics i have, its of Tom singing Soda.

very cool. Its really cool that they're doing all these intimate shows. If only i were allowed to bring my camera into the tv studio last thurs in montreal. The sound was amazing and its so weird seeing them so close.
