Prodigal Son (4 months in the making!)

this song has been 4 months in the making for me. it was written from an OCD point of view, because thats what i have. but i personally feel this song relates to everyone and anyone, with or without OCD. it's basically about the mistake we sometimes make as people, where we speak before we think, and then it comes back to haunt us. especially if we ask a question, and the answer we get is so unexpected that it bothers us for a while, causing all those intrusive thoughts into our heads. hope you like it....

Verse 1
I can hear the voices in my head. They won't stop until I'm dead.
I guess they were somehow resurrected. That explains why I'm so misdirected.
My mind is weary and infected. Dizzy with confusion I can't be protected.
Shut your mouth. Don't ask the questions if you don't want the answers.
Save your breath. It's last time's lesson but you never learn.
Shut your mouth. You get answers that you don't wanna get.
Save your breath. Shut your mouth just don't even ask.

Pre-Chorus
Conversations, explanations. Information, aggravations.
Situations, have no reasons.
Nesting in my brain, and eating me alive!

Chorus
When things get bad, I can never run
I'm sorry Mom and Dad for I'm the prodigal son
I know that we get mad 'cause I'm a demonic one
If only I could leave, it would satisfy everyone

Verse 2
I try not to make myself sick.
But this knot in my stomach gets tighter and harder to stomach.
Why do I let shit get to me? Is this the way life's supposed to be?
If I could forget all the visions, it'd be easier to make my decisions.
Shut your mouth. Don't ask the questions if you don't want the answers.
Save your breath. You got answers that you don't wanna get.
Shut your mouth. It's last time's lesson but you never learn.
Save your breath. Shut your mouth just don't even ask.

Pre-Chorus
Conversations, explanations. Information, aggravations.
Situations, have no reasons.
Driving me insane, and killing me inside!

(Chorus)

Bridge
Automatic charismatic, why am I so dramatic?
Forget this shit, fuck it all. I don't care, take it all.
I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't breathe, I can't think.
(I know there's things that I can't control)
Get back, watch out, I'm about to detonate!
(But it's those things that break my soul)

(Chorus)

Outro
I do not know when, but I will do it again.
I've been to hell and back, suffered heart attacks.
But I can tell you this, I'm not alone in this.
We all make mistakes, when we lose our place.
Can't control my persistance, I've lost all resistance,
sold my innocence, blame my ignorance, on no intelligence.

wasteful. i'm a "wasteful son." it's basically saying there's no point in me living because of all the trouble i sometimes cause (it's a metaphor though, i don't mean it)

Nice job, but consider revising some of your lines for typos.

"I try not to make myself sick.
But this knot in my stomach gets tighter and harder to stomach."

Well, I've never heard of 'stomach' being used as a verb before. Did you mean 'breathe' or something?

thank you.

and no, 'stomach' is in the dictionary also as a verb, meaning 'to put up with/tolerate'.

/major facepalm.

you guys have no idea what the prodigal son is do you?

Jesus tells the story of a man who has two sons. The younger demands his share of his inheritance while his father is still living, and goes off to a distant country where he "waste[s] his substance with riotous living", and eventually has to take work as a swineherd (clearly a low point, as swine are unclean in Judaism). There he comes to his senses, and decides to return home and throw himself on his father's mercy, thinking that even if his father does disown him, that being one of his servants is still far better than feeding pigs. But when he returns home, his father greets him with open arms, and hardly gives him a chance to express his repentance; he kills a fatted calf to celebrate his return. The older brother resents the favored treatment of his faithless brother and complains of the lack of reward for his own faithfulness. But the father responds:

Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

"prodigal" does not mean "wasteful" in the context you used. its someone who spends wastefully, not someone who wastes away.

/second facepalm.

your song seems to be about OCD/schizophrenia/drugs. i don't see how wiki wouldn't be reliable about a dictionary definition, or an overview of the Prodigal son parable found in the bible. im not going to waste my time scanning pages from a bible just to prove you wrong.

i don't really care about your song, nor do i care to carry on an argument with a guy who just heard the word "prodigal", thought it was cool and decided to name a song after it.

that's not what i did. and if you really dont care about my song, why did you waste your time posting that stuff from wikipedia to begin with?

besides, it's just a song title. who gives you the right to criticize my lyrics??
