Any ideas to speed up your laptop??

Post by ejk41 »

My laptop is probably around 1 and 1/2 years old now.. And initially it would start up fairly fast.. but as I've been using it more lately it's been starting to get slower, especially when you initially turn it on.. sometimes it seems to take quite a while.. And I mean I like to think I've been taking pretty good care of it.. I keep all my music and videos on an external hard drive so it doesn't take up space on the main one. And I mean once it's up and running it's still pretty efficient. But I just didn't know if there were any specific programs or something that helps makes speeds faster.

Here are two program:

http://www.ccleaner.com/
http://www.defraggler.com/

Ccleaner will clear you temperory files that most people just leave as they dunno about them, it may save you a lot of disk space too.

Defraggler is defragment you HDD, I suggest you use this because Windows Defrag is not that good.

Also try and limit down on the number of programs that start-up when the system is booted.

Correct, to be honest when it comes to XP, all you really need is 1Gb unless your a gamer and I would recommend the full ammount your motherboard can support

Yeah I don't generally do games on the computer.. Pretty much use the xbox 360 for that.. So I don't have to worry about that.
